Once you've tried the 2005 mod, I can't imagine you'd ever want to return to the standard GP4. Personally, my "baseline standard" for GP4 is a superb 2004 setup that Bigbrother kindly sent me. He and i both love the "walrus" Williams FW26. But I use the 2005 mod with Carset Manager and that's tremendous, you really feel like you're in this year'by paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Very grateful thanks for all of your hard work on this - it's absolutely superb! Thanks again! Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Enzojz, Best wishes for the future, enjoy University and succeed! Thanks for all you've done to keep GP4 the best game I've ever played. Hope to see you return one day!! Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
I love driving on Spain, Silverstone, Sao Paolo, Suzuka and Melbourne, The others, I like, except.... I dislike Hungaroring, Magny-Cours, and I think the old German GP track is boring - Can't wait for someone to make a version of the new one - much better! Oh, and I,too HATE Sepang!! Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
I had cars that spun easily under braking for corners in the 2005 mod. I found that going to the car setup and altering the brake balance, wings and other settings, it was quite possible to have a car setup that is challenging and fun to drive, but was less likely to spin, without losing the character of the new physics. Try experimenting with the car setup, you might like it! Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Wow! Fantastic!! Well done!!by paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
ZaZ, I used to have Windows 98SE and I couldn't get the 2005 mod to work no matter what I tried. I always had a crash to the desktop just as the game finished loading the track etc for a race. All other mods worked fine under 98SE, it was only the 2005 one that crashed. I installed Windows XP over my 98SE, without changing anything else and the 2005 mod worked perfectly. Thank you, Steven, it works now! Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Steven, I'll try that to switch off the visor! Now I've got the 2005 mod working (I needed Win XP to do it), I'm really enjoying it! I've just seen your reply to the black mirrors thread and downloaded his graphics.cfg file. It did enable my mirrors successfully, thanks Steven. Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
I think you may be correct. I just tried the 1988 mod. The mirrors work, but they only show the cars, not the track, and again, the graphics menu settings don't have any effect on the game. Anyone know how to get the graphics menus to work in mods or access & edit the graphics.cfg for each mod? Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
I have the same problem, but only in the 2005 mod. The manual graphics settings have no effect (only in 2005 mod). Steven, please can you tell me how to edit the cfg file for the 2005 mod to allow the graphics selections to work, or to get the mirrors working? Thanks Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Hi, Tony, Please can you also let us know how to enable the mirrors! Jasa, do you have this problem, too? I wasn't able to use the 2005 mod at all until this week, when I upgraded my OS to Windows XP. Now it works (and it's great!) BUT I would like to switch off the cockpit visor and switch on the rear-view mirrors. The options exist in the GP4 graphics menus, but no changes I mby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Hi Tony, thanks for replying. I'm working until 10.30 tonight, then 6am-6pm tomorrow. I'll send you a copy of the error log etc in the next day or two. The error log is a huge chunk of text - if it's too much to post here, do you have an email address that I can send it to please? I've installed your Melbourne and Sepang updates. I didn't know if it was worthwhilby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Hi Tony, Steven and co. I've been using Steven's 2004 setup for months now, and it's fantastic! I'd dearly love to use the 2005 mod, but I have the crash-to-desktop problem. The game gets as far as completing the loading screen, then I hear the first half-second of a pitcrew voice saying "You're starting..", then just as the game should give me the cockpitby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Tony, The log file's enormous. I've tried to post it here but it's too big. Shall I zip it with Winzip and email it to you? Please let me know your email address in my personal messages and I'll do that. I hope you can help to resolve the problem. thanks Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
As Edo said - "I downloaded the set and installed it. I choose SEPANG (HI-RES) and ran the game. But when it was loading a race it crashes back to my desktop, although the loadingbar was completely full... Any solutions for this problem???" I'm getting exactly the same problem. The original 2005 set works, although I can't disable the visor or enable the mirrors. Whenby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Thank you, guys, that's helpful. Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4

How do you edit the performance files and what do all the numbers mean for each driver, please? Thanks Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
I really like the Barcelona track, and I practice at Silverstone, too. I try to follow the real GP season myself by staging the race on GP4 at the same weekend of the actual Grand Prix. I usually raced as Barrichello last year, but my son's a big Mark Webber fan, so it could be anyone, really this time round.by paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Yes, thanks. Replied. Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Hey, Bigbrother, I just sent you a message, can you check your private messages box please/ Ta Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Wow! I love that BA Lotus! Are you going to make it available to download?by paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
So I'd be wasting my time to add RAM? Am I better to put the cash towards a new PC after Christmas?? Any suggestions as to what PC components would be best for GP4??? In my experience, the AMD based machines seemed to be generally better than the Intel ones. What's hot in graphics cards nowadays?? Thanks Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
It sounds rather obvious, but the better specified computer you have, the bettr GP4 will run. Before GP4 came out, I ran GP3 on a self-built PC with an AMD K6-2 500Mhz processor, 512Meg of RAM and a GeForce 2 graphics card. GP3 ran well on this PC, but when GP4 came out, I found it just wouldn't run except at very low frame rates and in low resolution with most of the display options (miby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Has something gone wrong with the cars downloads page links? I've been trying to download 2004 cars tonight but not one single file will download. I get messages saying "file not found" . I've tried using Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla Firefox, with similar failures. Can anyone advise please? Thanks Paulby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Thanks, I'll take a look and try to make sense of it!by paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
Sometimes I go for quickraces for a bit of light relief from my University work on the PC, but I like to run entire race weekends in parallel to the real F1 events. The thing is, I'm new to this forum and I have no idea how you folks add new cars etc to GP4, and certaily I didn't know you could access different carset. How do you do it? I have added the Viper ferrari from 2003 usiby paulhackettevans - Grand Prix 4
