I have the 2GB limit .cap file in the CSM 'Patch' folder. Is there a 4GB version?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Took the plunge and am now running on an Intel NUC 8i3. Added 8GB RAM and 250GB M.2 SSD. Runs GP4 very well, including mods. It doesn't get 60fps at the start of a race in heavier mods (with cars.wad >300MB, say), but I can run almost any mod at 40fps in 1080p with PO <100%.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
No, I don’t think so.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Monaco! Who will be crowned fastest of the principality this season?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Darn it that's a shame, I was hoping there was an easier answer than that! Thanks René.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
One for René but figured I ask everyone in case someone knows the solution already... When I display the ATL (laptimes / standings - press 9) I want it to display over any GPxCInfo panels, instead of being drawn under them. Is that possible?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Got it working! I needed to set that value to "1" in f1graphics.cfg, thanks Glenn for that tip. I've now rolled this update into my GP4 Central 2018 CSM Mod - thanks Heikki! It looks great!!by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Anyone got that shadow texture working please? I can't figure it out for the life of me!!by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Negative on SlimTex unfortunately - I get the following error at the moment: tom@Yoga:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/ZaZ GP4 Tools$ wine Slimtex.exe 0009:err: listview:LISTVIEW_WindowProc unknown msg 1044 wp=00000000 lp=0033f0ac 0009:err: ole:apartment_getclassobject DllGetClassObject returned error 0x80040111 for dll L"C:\\windows\\system32\\dx8vb.dll" 0009:err: ole:creatby TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I've had some success recently getting ZaZ Tools to run on Linux: and yes, the modded game runs... So that's ZaZ Tools (CSM) running and working on GNU/Linux - specifically elementary OS 5.0 Juno. Is that a breakthrough or has that already been done?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
NicoH takes the win! His first of the season, and he and Jorge continue to lock out the top 2. J.L.M. re-establishes himself in 3rd with his second podium of the season. And what a great turnout, thanks everyone!! I had a poor time of it - my excuse is I'm on holiday with the family so had no time to practise @supermonty - I'll see what I can do.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I can't get the shadow file to work - the tex file is in my cars.wad and I've set shadows to Low (and tried Medium as well) but the old shorter shadow still appears. Anyone got it to work?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
@VilleV - Try these 2 tips: 1) Set your replay length to maximum in the graphics options; 2) If you use the "car restore" feature (pressing backspace to reset the car) make sure you do this at least 500m before the start line.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Welcome Gareth! Nice to have you in the comp! You look to be doing things pretty well so farby TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Yeh basically there are 2 skies, one underneath the other, and I think it classes the darker (night) sky textures as crowd, so it is not shown in practice, which reveals the lighter, evening sky.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
That's an intentional - and very clever! - feature the track author created. I think to change it would require lots of changes to the textures in the .wad file though, it's not a quick and easy update.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I have a Pi, there's no way it would run GP4 satisfactorily. They're fun to mess with and for small tasks but even web browsing is very slow compared to an Intel device.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
It can be very undemanding, but the fashion for super-hi-poly cars and tracks means playing the recent F1 seasons can be taxing, especially during a wt weather start for instance. I'm considering this one:by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I don't recommend CPU=All. It causes random crashes because GP4 was not coded to run on multiple core CPUs. Use CPU=0 for the best experience.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Third win in a row for Jorge, and 2nd again for Nico - can anyone stop these two? I took my first - and likely only - podium of this season, as I've now used up my top 2 cars, which moves me up to 4th in the standings. Thank you to everyone for participating again. Next up, Baku.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Also very interested in this topic, thinking of getting a NUC soon too.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Hi Shep, I suspect you are uploading an older replay which is why it is accepted but not appearing to update? Are you sure you're submitting the correct lap? You can check yourself using hofxlapw just to be sure.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Well, I'm showing my hand early and playing my Mercedes 'card' this event - it didn't end so well in Melbourne when I used up my Ferrari but let's see... Current Leaderboard:by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I don't think I've ever come across that problem, but I do have a couple of other hints in case you're still having issues with GPxTrack: 1) Every track's .dat file contains a 'pointer' to the associated .wad file. GPxTrack makes this pointer needless because GPxTrack is now in control of which track files will be loaded. I find removing this pointer helps to avoiby TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Great question RHill! I'm always happy to help a fellow GPxTrack convert No, it doesn't matter which slot you use, GPxTrack can handle it, as long as there is only 1 track in the folder, like this. So only 1x .dat, 1x .wad, 1x .ini etc. The important point to remember is - regardless of which slot - I do advise that the .wad file should have an original 2001 filename, e.g. nurbuby TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Wish we could get CSM / ZaZ Tools working in Linux....by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Nice one, I'll test it and report back. We do have to think about the point raised by PaZa8523 though - if this fix results in the player losing control of their strategy it might not be the right thing?by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
I prefer to use GPxTrack instead of TSM to install custom tracks, and recommend that approach to others. If you really want to use TSM, have a search around these forums or if you have a specific problem you can start another post.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
CSM stands for CarSet Manager, so they typically do not include tracks, just the teams. Tracks are generally downloaded separately and individually, there are no trackpacks for recent F1 seasons but almost every modern track is available somewhere, like Glenn says. I recommend using GPxTrack to install tracks, see this article for more info: . It's very easy once you know this method.by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
Double-click the mod name in the CSM list of mods, it will open the folder containing the files. Or, navigate to "Grand Prix 4\GPSaves\Carsets\"by TomMK - Grand Prix 4
