Yes, thank You, my friend. The only my problem is time...in this moment GP4 is the last of the my activities, and the steering wheel is still in the "limbo" of my ideas. But now " I know how" to edit it.by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
OK, Stifflers: I've "switched on" my mind, and now I've understood. GP4 3D editor is the "key". Thanks again. Nicby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Well...at this piont I think it's a personal curiosity question on the way to open this file, and not for using your file for a new Steering_wheel version. In your pack there is the file "cockpit_steer.gp4": this file CANNOT be edited and saved with modifications by GP4 editor, as You suggested, becouse when You open it, Lok2's editor says " This file has been locked. Thanks again for suggestion. But, when I load this file with GP4 3D editor, this tool displays the message that the file ( cockpit_steer ) CANNOT be changed or saved, becouse it's locked. You can open it..yes...but only this. If You are able to do, I repeat: please, send me your "open" file. Thank You. Nicby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
You can put anywhere the new physics file, in your Pc. But the most easy, and comfortable for You, place is probably gpxpdata folder, that You find your GP4 directory ( of course, using GPxpatch ). Then, opening GPxpatch, go to the GPxset page, and find the option "Physics": activate it, loading your new physics g3p file, and start the game with GPxpatch. In this way, Gpxpatch will crby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Thanks, mate. But I have another question: You put in your Steering wheel pack the file " cockpit_steer.gp4". This file is locked...and this is notorius. You can' open it with Zmodeler, and You can open only ( without changing, or saving it ) with GP4 3D editor ( I don't know why Lok2 have not still updated this option in his editor). Therefore, please: what is exactly the fby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hi Stifflers Mum: thanks for your replay. But, what I mean is this: in the original steering wheel, rpm lights are 5 ( 4 greens, and the last red ) for each side, while in your steering wheel they are positioned in a different place, and only 3 lights ( 2 greens, and 1 red ) are switching on rising rpm. Should the steering wheel work with any new position of lights on texture ( new_steering_wheby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
@ Stiffler Mum: nice steering wheel, really. But, for my own use, I modified it in a some more general way. The problem is: where did You edit lights of Rev counter on steering? I suppose in the "German" or English".pos file. But, in which string? If You will write me, I will send You my file and a preview, in order to give the opportunity, if You like my modifications, to publisby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hi Dont discourage. I think editing of magic files is not so difficult like You could know at the first impression. The first thing You have to do is to get magic files. After You backup your original Dat files ( track files ), get magic files from them with magic editor. Then, open it and see ( You have to learn, or see the magic template ) how many parameters You can modify: setup ( dry and wby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
The only effective way to edit opponent strenght, in GP4, is through magic files. These files, that are encoding a lot of mechanical, statistical and physic features for each track, and cars, have also the CPU driver grip levels ( from Ace to rookie ). Editing these "drivers grip" levels, You can adjust in the perfect way the opponent strenght, for your own performances. I think You coby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for "tail" question: now, my car is on hands of Oggo...See in another thread his last car ( Ferrari F 2001 ). I think he can complete in the best way my work. We planned to release ( as first...? ) Suzuka version.by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Ok...My problem is over: I uninstalled GP4, and then I re-installed it, with all updates. Team Editor , now, works again. I have to say that, with many versions of GP4 on PC, sometimes I temporarily rename the main version, in C:/..../ Infogrames/Grand Prix 4 , with some small number ( for example: ...04 Grand Prix 4, or..orig-Grand Prix 4 , etc ). Could be this the cause of Team editor hang?by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4

@ Lo2k: Hi Laurent. I used until some days ago your nice tool Team Editor 3.1. Today, I can't run Team Editor, since after launch of editor there is a Windows mask saying that there is an error in Team Editor exe, and closing the mask I see " Exception EinOut Error dans le module TeamEditor 3.1 exe dans 000F2140. Thank You, Laurent. But from this my experience...and from that of other authors, I think it would be great if You could add, in the future versions of your 3d editor, some kind of option with which one has not to import again, and again to save a gp4 file, just saved in the same way with your 3d editor. Cheers Nicby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hello to everybody: thanks for your kind words...I hope You will see soon this "car". Coming back to the topic: Laurent...thanks for your great editor. With Erik's suggestion, all things were OK. Thanks also to Enzo for remarking this aspect. Erik...my dear friend: You ( and some other mates, here ) know that I prepared from far...a red car. Now, maybe, with some ( paint ) help, You ( and all other guys from the GP4 community) will see in the future ..this car. Thanks for the suggestion on how to use correctly Laurent's editor. Cheers Nicby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hi Laurent Speaking about your last 3D editor version ( 15.8 ), this time I want to remark a strange effect on gp4 car files. Infact, I used the useful option "sort car object" to reorder quickly damage objects list in a gp4 car file, saving the original reordered file as gp4 file, with 3d editor. However, when I tested it in game, I had some objects not visible, in the same manner whby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
You have to set a new fuel consumption ( for CPU drivers and human player ) in magic file, where You can ( You should...) also set correctly the fuel quantity\lap for that track. No....Performances text files are affecting both human driver ( bhp car ), and CPU drivers ( ability, and bhp car ). This, of course, if You set in GP4 default the option "level of 2001 ", or if You use GPxpatch, with activation of "car power team dependant". If You don't use these options, or if You play in Hot seat modality ( with GP4 default ), all drivers will havby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hi Tony There are some differences between GP3Edit ( that I used for a long time ) and Team Editor ( Performances sector ). In last times, I used Laurent's editor, 'cos it was resembling more precise in driver results...therefore, I can argue that also on failures it should be better. Yes, the failure chance FOR THE TEAM ( not for the driver ). Remember that failures, like other features, are conditioned from magic data, and commonly, anyway, driver with less ability has more chances to get failures. Regarding the percentage, consider that more than 32000 is like to have 80% of probability of failure. Everything it's OK, now?by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4

To answer to Jason, about Hot Seat: 1) You can play in Hot seat modality with GP4 without Gpxpatch, or also with Gpxpatch, unchecking the option GPxTrack in the first page. In this case, You will have the features of default Hot seat modality ( Arcade ), since all cars will have the same bhp power, and You can choice the times You drive, in game options, but laps are depending on the leby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4

Hello to everybody. Sorry for late replay...but I was out of home. I don't want to be misunderstood...my opinions about "too heavy" updates for GP4 are personal...and I want they remain so. All other people can think in a different way, and I surely respect them. But, please, try to consider how is changed the CPU request from 2 years to now in GP4, due to hi and mega textures, high poly cars, etc, etc. I think not all GP4 users can play with lasby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
