Hello folks, a thought occurred to me today when I was browsing through some GP4 stuff and I came across this thread discussing how to change tyre types of other cars and how this could be achieved with Cheat Engine (which for those none the wiser is like a Gameshark for PC). It made me think what else we could do with it; could we change things like magic data on the fly? Performance values perhby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Just a little bit of an update; I found a way to do some of the things I'd like using AUS_Doug's Perf Gen program. I've a copy of the spreadsheets provided with the files I've just called "CALIB". For drivers, the values are linked to their defaults plus a 1000 penalty during testing for variation, an adjustment depending on how much their HP has been changedby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
I'm not sure how to do it within GPx but I used a program called AntiMicro for this exact purpose. I've since moved on to REWASD as it has some more nice features like splitting the axis of my Xbox controller but it ain't free; AntiMicro should be more than adequate for what you need. If you're using an Xbox controller I can send you my config file if you want?by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Funny enough I was looking at that thread the other day because I've been playing through GP2 again. Since this is a GP3/GP4 forum though I doubt you'll get any further insight here sadly.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Very useful information - thanks!by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4

I very much appreciate your input Noog - lot of interesting and useful information in there. To be quite honest I haven't experimented much with the extra PF settings introduced by the later GPx patches so it's good to hear from someone who has. Personally rFactor's always been a no go for me because it's never been nearly as fun as GP4 is despite its customisation capabiliby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
I've updated the OP with a new more user-friendly link and provided details on the fonts used. I'd upload them if I wasn't nervous about the possible legal implications of such but they should be easy enough to find on the web.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4

And here comes the ramble! So something I've been doing for several years now (since 2019 maybe?) is simulating my own kind of career mode using a mixture of mods and excel spreadsheets to log results and events (race stoppages, injuries and penalties). I'd play a non-championship weekend, save the qualifying and race results and log them into an excel page - I'd then have a excby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
I'm not terribly familiar with Donington Park so I don't quite know what the layout would be like - but it certainly looks spectacular.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
GPxPatch should show the gaps, is it defaulting to the standings? If you press the '1' key it'll show you the different captions you can access, 'S' will cycle through the gaps between the fella in front and the fella behind you, but usually you're better off leaving it at Directors' cut by pressing D. What I've done, is that I've mapped the S, B, Dby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4

Huh, that's strange. Maybe some of the guys who research the magic data files could provide some insight?by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
If you use GPxPatch you can display your tyre and plank wear. I believe the default hotkey is Shift+L, but you should be able to diagnose the issue there. If you think the tyre wear is too high just turn it down in the magic data, however if it's the plank the only thing you can do really is raise the ride height.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
That's me signed up; it tried to sign me in through the browser for some reason so if you see two "noiceinmydrink"s that's why: feel free to kick the blank one out lolby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
If you look at the magic data for any given circuit (using CMagic or GP4 Builder or whatever) you'll find this line desc73= Track sector after which AI cars stop being cautious on 1st lap To make starts a bit more unpredictable I just change this to 1, you'll see a lot more movement from the other cars on the start/finish line. This is the only real thing I've found but sby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
This is great and all but where's FEISAR and Qirex among all this?by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
In terms of the graphics card, try disabling the integrated chip through the BIOS if you can - it'll be different for every motherboard so if you're looking up how to do it make sure it's for your particular one!by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Here you go, there's five of them according to that time period's TV Graphics since we're all about authenticity here! I've had it in my head for a while to write some sort of program that can do all of this sort of thing (track driver results, car development through perf adjustments, simulate red flags/107% rule etc) but I've never quite got round to it. Who knows, mby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Sounds cool. I have a similar thing going on myself but only really with championship tables and implementation of the 107% rule, red flags (loosely, I basically just do a full restart or if over 2 laps are completed - I'll go into the numcars.ini like with the 107% rule and take the retired cars off the grid and use Shaddix's custom grid tool to determine the grid order and adjust theby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Looks like one of the logs that comes up with GPxPatch, one of the numbers on the keyboard brings this up - I think you press 0 to hide it.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Cheers, one more question though - if I edit using CMagic, will I have to re-enter the values I've edited through TSM? When TSM applies it's own text file, does it only affect the values displayed in that program or does it overwrite the entire magic data?by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Usually when I want to edit the magic data for a track I just go into TSM and change them there, but there's occasions where I want to change the AI Grip levels in wet weather conditions (thanks to this superb thread by salvasirignano). For this I use GP4 Builder as advised because unfortunately those values aren't accessible through TSM, but what confuses me is that certain values, likby RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Yeah it seems to work fine without CSM if I launch it through GPX patch, so it's something to do with CSM or the mod. I'll try it with other mods as well and see what happens.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Yeah I've done that but it still doesn't seem to work. Something happens when I start the game that messes with the config, all will be fine until I boot it up - it'll say on my phone and the app that it's running but it'll also say that the game needs configured - even though I've checked export on both the main GPxPatch and the one in the CSM mod.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
My app is detecting the game running but it's not giving me a readout, followed the steps in the tutorial and all - is there something else I need to configure within the CSM mod I'm using?by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Works perfectly now, thanks Carl!by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
Pretty sure I installed everything properly but GP4 just crashes every time I try and load it up with this. Like I said, it works when I'm in the pit and such but when I'm on the track or if I'm starting a race, they key doesn't register. No idea why that is; I searched this prior and another person had the same problem but they didn't get a resolution sadly.by RegularJohn - Grand Prix 4
