@Gildoorf: >>>some really important we need: a track altimetry. All I know for sure is the width of the track: Maximum: 12 meters. Minimum: 10 meters at the exit of turn 19. The track itself is pretty flat, but it's built on a plateau. I believe that the middle of the Mistral straight and the S/F line are the highest points. I can't really install this... 'cause I'm scared. "You also agree with CSM's leech protection. If CSM finds any leeched mods it will delete them without asking." I created my own 2006 Mod with stuff I've "stolen" from many modders. I wouldn't call it "leeching" SINCE I HAVE NO INTENTION OF EVER DISTRIBUTING IT. Would CSM/TSM deby Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
I've been playing GP4 since it came out. Before, I was playing GP3. Then GP2. Then F1GP.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
After many tests, I've determined that a driver's tendancy to crash does not depend on his ability but his grip. BHP (700-800) defines top speed. Grip (13000-17000) defines the ability to go fast in corners. Ability (100-200) is a random number between 100-200 that the game adds or substracts to the grip. Lower grip = lower cornering speed, increased chances of crashing. I guby Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
BTW Montana_uk: The FIA HATES Ferrari. The 2005 tyre rules were made specifically to prevent Ferrari from winning the championship. In 2005 the FIA was on Renault's side.by Tom2681 - F1
First: read the FAQ at the top of this forum. Most of the info that you need is in there. Second: if you want better graphics in general, you need to edit the f1graphics.cfg file in your GP4 folder (or ask someone from the GP4 screenshots thread to send you his ) Third: Download hi-resolution tracks from Ricardo Lampert's site. Fourth: Download and learn to use CSM (carset manager)by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
Hard to say. Mika had the best car when he won the 98/99 championships. Michael had the best car when he won the 2K/01/02/03/04 championships. Mika's always had a crap teammate and was better than him. Michael had awesome teammates (Irvine, Barrichello) and was so much better than them. So I'd have to go with Michael.by Tom2681 - F1
About the fences: There are 2 different bank settings in the initial sector. The problem is in the "initial bank description" I think (use the same values as in the next bank description).by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
Hi Jimbob ! Last post on the subject (don't want to hijack b-tone's thread): >>>there is a lot of time spent making these tracks & it can be soul destroying to have failures That's the problem. I never really had the time (but maybe one day I'll get back into it ). >>>if you are leaving track editing i think it's a loss for us...by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4

Nope, sorry. There's nothing left. You know how it is: When you get frustrated, you just throw everything out the window.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
>>1'13''5 is the (unofficial) track record (Button April 2005, one month before the GP) Yes, but he was probably using the illegal second fuel tank at the timeby Tom2681 - F1
>> (what ever happened to Dijon??) Repeated crashes and failures made it too frustrating for me. I gave up on trackediting (and on GP4 too for a while). But it turns out you can never stay away from good ol' GP4 I won't be trying out trackediting again, though. I'd rather drive on your tracks.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who has been working on this mod. After spending 6 months away from GP4, I couldn't hold it anymore and had to see what the community had developed recently. I logged on to GPG, and then a mod called GP2 2005 caught my attention... I just had the most amazing race in Melbourne thanks to this mod ! Processor Occupancy. When you press O ingame it tells you how much your processor is used. It's better to have it lower than 100%.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
No offense, but your GFX card sucks It's time to leave PCI and move into AGP territory. In my experience, 512mb of RAM is more than enough to play GP4. BTW: Do you actually need to play at 54 fps ? I've set my framerate to 30 and it's all very smooth already.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
I haven't been able to spend much time on it lately, but I'm not giving up. I wasn't happy with the elevation changes so I went back to .dat editing. It will be released, eventuallyby Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
@Gildoorf: >>noticed that pitlane flags were missing. Even so, tried on but the game crashed The game automatically crashes if some flags are missing. "Connect pitlane start" and "Connect pitlane end" flags have to be put in track sectors (not pitlane sectors). -Go to the track sector where the pitlane begins -Add one item -Add the pitlane start flag (86)by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4

@Jimbob1: I think you forgot to read the chapter about graphics in Maverick's tutorial. -If you build only the physical side (.dat) you won't be able to see the track. -You need to work on the graphical side (.gp4) if you want to see your track. Look for "Building the grafical track" in his tutorial. P.S: If your track is invisible EVEN with the graphical part dby Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
>>how do i determine the position of the s/f line???? Strange question... The s/f line is automatically situated between the last track sector and the first track sector. You have to make sure that your pitlane starts before it and ends after it. BTW: I've read your PM. Everything I've learned comes from Maverick's tutorial. It would be pointless for me to make one aby Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
Try different drivers for your wheel. I had the same problem once (delayed reaction between my wheel and the game) and I solved it by updating my drivers. Mine is a Thrustmaster FF GT Wheel.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
What tool do you use to calculate your bitrate anyway ?by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
Are you sure your 128 kbits file isn't an MP3 ? WAV files usually have bitrates between ~700 kbits (mono) and ~1500 kbits (stereo). Maybe your problem comes from the fact that you've got MP3 files instead of WAV. 128 kbits sounds extremely low for a WAV (uncompressed) file.by Tom2681 - Grand Prix 4
