Nah, I'd say give them a little more time. I really like the team so I *hope* they're not miles off the pace come Bahrain, and it is still early days, technically (I guess). Otherwise, given that they're the most advanced brand new team...common, 10 seconds off the pace? No one's been *that* slow since, what, Life?by zulu_85 - F1
I think you might be right with Minardi, it also screams "Midland" at me as well from the shot on this page. Generally though I still really like it. I really like the shape and in some ways it reminds me of the 20s Minardis and Arrows. Fine by me :Dby zulu_85 - F1
I agree Fincent - while I'd be delighted to see Petrov at Renault, his being at Campos could do so much for the team in terms of securing a longer future for them in F1. It's just, you'd think with the huge sponsorship Petrov has and the old ties he has with Campos, his signing would be a very obvious move, one that Campos would probably proudly declare as being over and done with.by zulu_85 - F1
I remember, before Schumacher decided to come back, there were various facts and figures flying about concerning records that Barrichello would beat sometime during this year - 300 races being one of them. Another one was beating Graham Hill's record of the longest spanning career - i.e. the time span between the first event the driver takes part in and the last one, irrespective of what hapby zulu_85 - F1
GP Update is suggesting that Fisichella will get the second Sauber drive: One *assumes* Renault will look to Heidfeld then. That is, based on what *I* would do, which may not mean a thing...by zulu_85 - F1
It could also be the thought that the car he was looking at would soon be replaced by a Minardi... Not that he didn't outqualify Fisi and Button on a few occassions.by zulu_85 - F1
Ligier missed the first Grand Prix of 1987 because they were to use Alfa Romeos until Arnoux said they were crap, Alfa were offended, and Ligier didn't have an engine anymore (until they got Megatrons at the next Grand Prix). I saw this in a review book by Murray Walker which I can't find right now - I can't remember the exact details of any punishments or dispensations they were gby zulu_85 - F1

Gah, I'm up at Uni with just an old (yet I *thought* perfectly fine) TV - no Sky, no Freeview, nadda. I'm sure that my laptop's screen is larger than my TV's - except the quality of the picture that the laptop will show - thanks to my internet - isn't a patch on just watching it on my TV - when it works... Still, I have every intention of going home for the weekend comby zulu_85 - F1
Quali was amazing! Race should be fantastic - I really do hope Rubens can get a win here. Was in a way quite happy to see the end of Quali bumped to BBC Two - for some reason BBC One's reception on my TV has gone absolutely shockingly crap this week - all the other channels are crystal clear, even FIVE, so I have no idea, but in terms of the end of Quali, woohoo! I could watch it live on iplby zulu_85 - F1
For me a good race but could have been better. Delighted for Trulli/Toyota - great drive by him. Vettel absolutely dominated, flawless drive - and with Webber getting fastest lap it does give the impression that, had fate not completely conspired against him (beyond the fact that *he* broke his car on Saturday), then only one Brawn would have scored any points. Good race by Hamilton and Raikkby zulu_85 - F1

I expect Glock to be quite OK. Well let's hope he will be - my point was though the very fact he had to be extracted. :\by zulu_85 - F1
Horrible accident but very bizarre. What's kinda upsetting is that just as they establish the notion of "oh it's okay, they just sit in the car until the Doctors come, so nothing to worry about" suddenly the screens and stretchers come out Appears atm he has a "leg wound" - so basically he's okay per se, but who knows whether he'll be fit to race.by zulu_85 - F1
Ah yes - forgot about that. I thought they were just "invited" back, but yeah you're right they're back in. But they are still going ahead as far as I am aware so who knows what's going to happen? =Pby zulu_85 - F1
Well the way I see it, as like the 80s Renault pic, I don't see why they can't just have the logo without the colour background - elf or Total on black or whatever I think would still work, unless they're too image conscious (which would be ironic). But yes, will Renault look as bare as Brawn did earlier this season next year? As per divers, many people were linking Kubica but nby zulu_85 - F1
Also, did I see rumours that Williams were bucking the FOTA-gentlemen's agreement about KERS (because they're not currently in FOTA) and were going ahead with developing it for next year? It *may* be to Ruben's advantage to go there... But I hope they don't. I really don't like KERS. I don't think it will make the team particularly popular either. Anyway, I'by zulu_85 - F1
What, МегаФон? (Russian mobile company BTW ) Hmm, I thought it used to be on the side of the cockpit but that was that MM thing - so yeah, that's three large sponsors gone then. Renault had been trying to appeal to the Russian market for some time, perhaps they'll try to look there again for more support next year (not insinuating that Russian companies will have no issue with Renaultby zulu_85 - F1
While I wish that the Renault car livery would change (and resemble the Renaults of old) they will probably remain the same for the rest of the year - all they've done with the clothing is probably ship out the simplest/cheapest/quickest/legalist designs they could do within a week because all the old team clothing is still plastered with ING and...that other sponsor that's withdrawn. Today's Times makes interesting reading, having an article that claims to incorporate some of the Renault radio traffic in the moments leading up to and after Piquet's crash. Needless to say there's blatantly no evidence of Renault telling Piquet to crash at the time - as I think everyone would have guessed already. It seems quite innocent, perhaps telling when Briatore launby zulu_85 - F1

Wonderful news! Makes the driver market more crazy again - Heidfeld and Kubica may need not move at all...maybe. I'll be extra happy if Qadbak keeps the Sauber name at any rate. Thing is, to echo some of what Max has been saying recently, I still got a bad feeling that one of the current teams will still pack up and leave - people mention Renault, I still worry about Toyota and Torro Rosby zulu_85 - F1
What? 1) Lewis and Adrian are; and 2) Kimi wishes he was? :p Have to say it though, when Lewis mentioned that he had a special name for Adrian but daren't mention what it is on TV did make me think of this thread :Dby zulu_85 - F1
I think it probably is saying something (and in line with what Martin Brundle was saying) that his F1 career is effectively being written off when he's 24 (and as I'm only a few months younger than him I'm gonna feel REAL old suddenly)... and yet his dad didn't even enter F1 until he was 25-26. Fantastic news! I was so worried over the last few days but it seems his chances of now not only living but actually racing again seem to hugely increase with every day. I wonder if he'll pull a Hakkinen - come back from near-death to dominate the sport? Either way I'm just happy he's recovering so quickly and doesn't *appear* to be permanently injuredby zulu_85 - F1
Didn't some of BMW's sponsors announce they were going, or have gone already? I know Credit Suisse have gone, and they had been sponsoring Sauber long before BWM came into the equation. Might have something to do with it and it does make me worry about Sauber's chances if BMW couldn't get attract any new sponsors. I don't know though, I am surprised and saddened that BMWby zulu_85 - F1
I'd also like to see the wheel covers go - just in general. I don't get this "knowingly" bollocks though. As if Renault told its pitcrew "alright lads, as rehearsed, remember, we can save bundles of time if we don't do up the wheel nuts!"...? There were several incidents in 94 that spring to mind - Michele Alboreto's Minardi shedding one of its wheelsby zulu_85 - F1
That is a pretty nasty crash :\ I don't think I've ever seen any footage of Brundle's crash as it happened, the only thing I've seen is a photo of the car still resting on its side from a review of the 84 season - it's the photo I think that revealed the Tyrell had an illegal..er...something underneath the car that eventually saw them disqualified from the championshipby zulu_85 - F1
It's strange that as far as Eddie Jordan is concerned, the stronger Bernie says "NO!" to Silverstone, the stronger the chances we will be at Silverstone in 2010, because that's the sort of guy Bernie is...
