How'd you get the colours looking more realistic rather than cartoony? UN;ess of course its done by editing the image. I found that the warm and cold filters don't really help too much, and GPxPatch slows the game down and isn't really need for gp4 as much anyway.by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Front wheels a tad too big. Otherwise, well doneby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Do you ever manage to not get PO's above 100% at the start? For some reason GP3 really hates windows XP O_oby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
k, here's some pics so far. I may do one of the colour adjusted benneton if anyone is interested, also the team art too.by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
hehe yer. I guess I will just have to wait and seeby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
4 => flatcubic, 5 => gaussiancubic Whaaa?! what are they =Dby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Hmm hang on for pics :D Yer his 1998 set is really good. Oh another thing, I hugely changed the colour of the Benneton - he had done it all dark, and I thought it was meant to be lighter >_< Nothing a little Hue Sat Light can't fix, even if it is a bit of a bugger to do.by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
Lopper, you know on your reports, when you say "at the restart", do you mean that you judged the situation to be "red flag worthy" and just reloaded a save at the start of the race? :D If so, heheh that's quite funny but also a good idea - shame there won't be the arguements in teams about who gets the spare car though, as they will all line up as if it never happeneby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
You could try decreasing the saturation in in your photo editor yes - it might turn out a bit crap though, but it's worth a mess around with the settings etc. Generally it's best to start with good colours at the start. Bright, saturated colours tend to make things look all cartoony really. Anyway, glad to see you having a go (I probably should at some point)by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
Since I like to play with the default season - in many respects because it's easier -_^ I decided to get the 1998 carset by Jan Frischkorn. Good set it is too Anyway, there were colours that were slightly off imho so I changed them, but also the visors were a bit dodgy, so I have edited the visors for the new helmets to make them more realistic. I dunno whether it's worth asking hiby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
Try not to use such over saturated and basically "default" kind of primary colours. When making carsets, a lot of people tend to get the colours wrong - this may seem like a little thing, but it can have a huge effect on the car. Anyway, keep it upby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
Well on the first time, it started and went a bit dodgy on the graphics set up - however I installed the patch and it was fine. Still, there are dodgy pit bugs and stuff like I mentioned :D So, I won't properly start until I actually get my PC. Is the thing on Athlon 64s like the crap hyperthreading thing on P4s that seems to cause problems? I hope it isnt and that it actually runs well.by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
For around a fiver from ebay - said it was new, but it looked more like it was slightly used, but how can I complain :D Is there anything different about it apart from being able to jump the start? IIRC I hear that the transmission failure is still wron, and causes you to slwo down and stop rather than forcing you to stick in the same gear. Haven't heard any of the pit radio, due to myby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Fullers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > with Lod_0 level of detail. erm? Is that the name of someone who does track graphical updates or something? BTW, you must have good specs to get that ?!by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Ah I see - cos if you set it to "0" then all the settings will be changed back by the game - I see The only annoying thnig about it is figuring out where all the ini settings are etc, haha - so much to trawl through. I can run with the normal game settings on high ok, but I have to turn off the mirrors otherwise its crap - shame as turning off mirrors is always a bit dodgy esp whby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
I disabled all things but the info one, with only the Wamr filter active (still can't decide which is best out of warm or cold tohugh :D) but it still had a PO hit. I guess it's just the program itself and so is inevitable (sp)by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Cheers for the url - still can't see it :D It has 1.82 released at the top of the new and all the site seems to only mention 1.82 as the latest so who knows why I can't see it - maybe I am just being dumg or maybe for some reason I can't get the new updated site >_< Anyway, cheersby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
The only bad thing about it is that when you use it, it seems to make it so that when you change the graphics in game it doesn't do anything/work. Also, what is this talk of a 4.00 patch in the readme :D At first, I thought the new cfg might be read only, but I checked and this is not the case. >_<by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
Pardon my ignorance, but where? >_< I still only see 3.82 at the siteby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 4
turning in while braking is what causes you to lock the wheels - it completely overloads the tyre, adding the braking for to the turning force. If you are braking a little bit and turning a little bit, so you don't lokc them then it is quite good, but you don't want to be doing it all the time as it wrecks your tyres and also locking your brakes round a corner is generally slower than nby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
Heh, keep up the good workby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
I would say, for all of the numbers / text that can change, use LCD style numbers to make it realistic. For the text that is always there and never changes (Like for example fuel) you can have what font you like, as this would have been printed on to the overlay of the screen The 2nd one seems more realistic, but try if you can to do an lcd thing version and also non-slanted lcd numbers woulby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
I found the car set in "season packages" and a car model in "carshapes" but I can't find a 1991 performance file :D I will need some new tracks I bet too - though god knows where those will be... Looks good, but the mapping reflections etc on to textures seems good at first but tends not to work too well. You did a good job anyway well doneby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
yer, but thats changing performance, as in overall times. That does not change how they start and how they overtake/block others that overtake/ avoid accidentsby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
The AI seem crap anyway Is there anyway to edit them to make it better or a patch somehow?by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
about this start fix thing, who is madman, and would he be willing to try something similar for GP3? *crosses fingers*by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
ok, could someone clarify what I said about gp2? I think maybe there were individual default setups for each track (read what I said in the previous post). Is this true? Oh, and if you are right ScottyJ, that would make more sense :D and at least I would know what I am doing to the car The others were just trying to confuse me by accident hehe (jk)by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
I find the default setups weird, as they are all the same in the menu, but as someone said earler they are not actually the same. This is hard for me to grasp, as it means I have no real idea of what the default setup of the car is and what the real wing angles, etc are. Particularly confusing is how the brake balance is defaultly set to the rear of the car, even though it says it is best to haveby Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
You mean you can get times of below 1 minute 30 s on Melbourne using the default setup? :O I mean, I don't use traction control or steering help but I find it shockng if you can manage to get at least 5 seconds better than my 1:36.xxx (also using the default). Where do you find the time. Also, with the default setup, you struggle to find the speed down the straights.by Daniel Knott - Grand Prix 3
