very good poiint JIM. i find it interesting that Alain Prost was driving in an era as competitive as today, yet he pulled out 4 titles in it. and he was a team mate with senna too. i believe that the mansells; the sennas; the laudas; the piquets; the pironis and villeneuves; the schumachers etc. were just as competitive as the guys you enlisted.by mitadumapaga - F1
will he become felipe's race engineer then?by mitadumapaga - F1
i do not want to argue with you. indeed senna had some awesome drives in 1993. yet hakkinen outqualified him in his first appearance. so... in 1992 he had a dismal season as well. in general, towards the end of his career senna was quite crash happy. regarding alonso - he has been driving amazingly. he trashed raikkonen in both qualies and in both races. if instead of kimi we had maby mitadumapaga - F1
i dont get what bottas was so keen about? he was never at the whole race close to massa? he was never faster? ... except when felippe was fighting slower cars.by mitadumapaga - F1
mercedes powered cars look like a safe bet, at least in the opening races of the season. Their engines are: more powerful more reliable more developed (since they were able to accumulate the highest mileage so far) if you take a look at this test in Bahrain, mercedes and ferrari powered cars top the timing sheets. mercedes; mclaren; ferrari; williams; even force india. they are all aboveby mitadumapaga - F1
I agreee with you guys. besides, massa is a super talented driver. he may not have beaten alonso, but it does not make him a bad racer. together with bottas' youth and massaès experience, and with the sheer talent that both have, it may turn out to be a very strong season for williams (indeed, when you look back to 2008 or 2009 they had a good season, but only one driver who picks points)by mitadumapaga - F1
guys, the ferrari looks like a vacuum cleaner :D :D the lotus looks like a car from the game "dead race" (a game where you had to kill the other cars). and with this nose the Lotus looks in a good shape to destroy rear tyres and rear suspensions. the mclaren and williams have a car-nose, which looks like the male organ with which you make children. Absurd. But once they hit thby mitadumapaga - F1
cough hamilton one could argue that ron's backstage games made lewis leave. from what i know, lewis had told whitmarsh he will stay, but after lewis found out about ron's backstage little dirty games, he decided to leave. On the other hand, ron found lewis, and brought him into the team, so there's that too.by mitadumapaga - F1
Wonderful posts around here guys, as always! While I was reading what Gav recalls as best moments in Schumacher's career, and especially in his comeback, I recalled a very strong moment too. It happened during the season opener in Australia in 2012. I remember that Vettel was fifth, behind both Merc., and only needed a lap to pass Rosberg WITHOUT the help of DRS. After that however,by mitadumapaga - F1

this is absolutely true to me. barrichello had speed in 2009 and 2010. Lets not forget he would have won nurburgring 2009 w/o any troubles, had it not been (ironically) for massa. this would have made him much more serious championship contender later on in the season as well. However, the points that apart from rubens, niconever had good teammates. the best one was di resta and they prettyby mitadumapaga - F1
guys, let's talk 2014 here, let's talk Hulkenberg! i did a very small research and found the following facts about him: 1. the best teammate he ever had is barrichello (in rubens' last races). Rubens destroyed Hulk with 47 to 22 points. 2. the 2012 season, Hulk and Di resta were pretty much equal. Sill, his last race in brazil wasawesome, but thats pretty much what made thby mitadumapaga - F1
do you think massa didnt understand what rob told him on the team radio? it sounded complicated and we all know how "good" felippe is with the English language. Indeed, he must be stupid to do that even when he knows a penalty will follow.by mitadumapaga - F1
fantastic race. yet i would like to points something out. Alonso's defending on webber was terrible. I mean, the guy had a similar pace to Mark, but never took the defensive line to protect his position. And he let mark overtake him twice. If you look at massa, his pace to hailton was probably comparable to alonso's pace to webber. Yet, massa did a great job to defend the positiby mitadumapaga - F1
gav écrivait: ------------------------------------------------------- > Button is not among the fastest 2 or 3. He might > have the race-craft to be up near the top, you are correct, Gav! what i meant is that j.b. beat hamilton, who (that is Hamilton) is regarded as one of the fastest.by mitadumapaga - F1
regarding sergio, i would like to make a small comment: what a shame by mclaren! the guy drove well, especially when you consider he is along a world champion who BEAT hamilton, who is regarded as top 2 or 3 of the fastest drivers. Also, sergio made fun of jenson at so many occasions: bahrain; monaco in qualy; usa; india etc. If you look at it objectively, mclaren should either keep himby mitadumapaga - F1
sounds like montoya, doesnt it? the thing with those drivers is that their temperament gives them many headaches and has a detrimental effect on them. yet it is also source of some aggression that makes them do things on the track other drivers cant, e.g. maldonado overtaking bottas in japan on the lat corner is the same schumacher did to barrichello at monaco in 2005, or what hill did to viiby mitadumapaga - F1
regarding the driver of the day-topic: 1. vettel was awesome! yet, from the tv footage it was obvious that webber was fastest in sector one, then dropped just a little in sector two and from -.486 after s2, he only beat his time by .250 at the end of the lap. So just by a mistake he lost over 2 tenths. still vettel was there to capitalize, so good job! 2. bottas! Fantastic! just awesome driby mitadumapaga - F1
@ british fans, please do not get it personally, but how exactly is lewis hamilton great TODAY? maybe he was in the first half of 2007. maybe he had some fabulous races. but how exactly does this differentiate him from, hmmm, let's say, damon hill?by mitadumapaga - F1
dan, i didnt mean to sound like schumacher fanboy! i will try to sound more objective from now on! here is the point i tried to make about vettel: everything based on his achievements is based on historical data from only few years, 4-5 years. In statistics, the shorter the historical data one uses to estimate the future, the bigger the magnitude of estimation error is. In 2007 alonso`sby mitadumapaga - F1
everything you shared here guys, I agree on! do you know what? Right now I feel about vettel the same way I felt about alonso at the beginnin of 2007! From my point of view, the guy was definately up to beat schumacher's record of 7 titles..... but he didnt, and probably never will! The one thing on which I do not fully agree is the claim that vettel will beat schumacher, let'by mitadumapaga - F1
seb was mega fast!!! in the beginning of his second stint, grosjean was with brand new tyres and was lapping only 0.1, 0.2 seconds faster than seb on used tyres. webber was fast, but not faster than vettel. also, why did they pit webber with 10 laps to go? he could have easily brought the car to the end with over 14 seconds gap to seb. even if seb had caught him in the end, webberby mitadumapaga - F1

this quote is so sad for alonso, but so true: "Alonso will keep pushing, as he always does, but everyone already knows how this story ends."by mitadumapaga - F1
i agree with you on that. it struck me that in the beginning they told webber to back oof instead of telling him to attack they told some other drivers the same (e.g. alonso did not fight so hard against di resta in my view). it looks unacceptable to have 600+ hp cars with boost and drs and to tell them to preserve resources from lap nr.1 Damn, if only nico could have made the firstby mitadumapaga - F1

rosberg and vettel (the second one yet again) destroyed their teamates. Obviously nico king on street races (and incredibly those were the onese schuey beat him last year on pace). masa showed what a driver he is once again with a lap almost 0,1 faster than Nando. Just gives you goosbumps how good the brazilian is at that track. He was .6 of a second faster than Lewis Hamilton and about a secoby mitadumapaga - F1
