Well this sort of clears things up a bit. If the below is true then IMHO McLaren have done nothing wrong.... McLaren deny any wrongdoing over gearbox. McLaren are confident that the FIA will clear them of any wrongdoing over the use of a lightweight gearbox that had not been crash tested at the Hungarian Grand Prix. IIRC I think you (more your friend) mean the European GP at Donington Park - At the time the pitlane entry was before the last corner hairpin - Senna was on his flying lap but instead of going on to take the last corner he took the pitlane entry, which in itself was effectively a hairpin, and crossed the timing beam in the pitlane, effectively cutting off the last corner, but not doing anything iby **Taylor** - F1

Well I just think that if it's driver controlled it's another thing for them to think about & potentially either gain an advantage or lose out on. Sort of a modern day equivalent of when drivers could miss gears before the semi-auto sequential boxes were introduced....
