Yeah, to be honest, my OCD was getting very stressed out about the odd points distribution earlier, too! Converted into "old money", the new points system is the exact equivalent of: 1st = 10 2nd = 7.2 3rd = 6 4th = 4.8 5th = 4 6th = 3.2 7th = 2.4 8th = 1.6 9th = 0.8 1oth =0.4 Which is really not very different from what we had before. It's slightly worse for 2mdby Rubidius - F1

Aye, this looks extremely unprofessional. The team name is a joke, and the car has the BMW livery but with the branding removed. Brawn did much better than this last year, and they had less time to prepareby Rubidius - F1
According to a French F1 site called toilef1.com, they're official Renault pictures which were briefly on the official website this morning by accident, and then taken down quickly.by Rubidius - F1
The crime has already been punished, with a disqualification from the Australian GP. When you look at the penalty in total (DQ from 1 race, and 3 races suspended ban) it doesn't look at all lenient.by Rubidius - F1
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but after this week, we can say for absolute certain that Vettel isn't gay. Apparently, he has a thing about naming his cars after women, so that he can have a closer relationship with them! "My original car was called 'Kate'. Like a ship, it should be named after a girl as it's sexy" ... "But then my monocoque got smaby Rubidius - F1

I suspect Hamilton would get 23, and that McLaren would race with 0 and 2. (I don't think you can change numbers during the season, but a non-WC can't race with number 1.) But maybe SchueyFan is right that Hamilton could take #1 with him.by Rubidius - F1
Marwood - I agree with you. But surely the Spa ruling last year means that a post-race penalty, if it's given in place of a drive-through, can't be overturned at all? If it can be overturned, then the FIA should have been prepared to consider whether the Spa penalty was fair or not. They refused to even consider the point, because it was a "drive-through", and they thereforby Rubidius - F1
Just on a purely technical point: Trulli's 25-second time penalty (in lieu of a drive-through) has been rescinded, because it was unfair. But at Spa last year, the FIA decided that Hamilton's 25-second penalty (in lieu of a drive-through) couldn't be rescinded, so it was irrelevant whether it was fair or not. It would be a great shame if there were gay F1 drivers who felt scared to come out. F1's a very civilised sport, with a very tolerant fanbase. It really ought to be capable of being a gay-friendly environment. On the other hand, there are only 20 or so drivers. With low numbers of individuals, you can't just apply the statistics in that sort of way. It's actually quite possibleby Rubidius - F1
That McLaren with the 08 spec wing that PDLR's driving - are you sure it's the 09 car? Looks like last year's car to me, it's got the old-shaped sidepod openings. (The new car's sidepod openings are oval, and that one has a flat upper ege.)by Rubidius - F1

Well, it's not very clear in the video, but if you look at the still photos on NOTW's website, they're pretty clear and pretty damning. Also, the story's now been picked up by the right-wing half of the UK's gutter press, the Mail:by Rubidius - F1

Am I just imagining it, or has the entire F1 world written him off as a serious contender just because he wears glasses? I can't think of any other reason. He won F3000, he's won in the USA too. Surely he should have been offered an F1 drive long before now.by Rubidius - F1

I know some people have mentioned BMW, but I'm really not convinced that BMW is a realistic option for Jenson. They have enough problems working out what to do with three drivers already - they don't need a fourth. BMW want to keep Vettel, because they think he'll be the next Hamilton. (I'm not saying that's necessarily true, but BMW certainly think he's the nextby Rubidius - F1

No, it's not over the top ... "Why not?" Whitmarsh told Wednesday’s Guardian newspaper when asked if Hamilton could become the sport’s greatest driver. Whitmarsh was clearly just answering the question that was put to him by a journalist. If he'd replied "No; however hard Lewis tries, he'll never be as good a driver as Schumi/Senna/Fangio/Clark/whoever was"by Rubidius - F1

It's not massively complicated, is it? Just get rid of the fuel credits! Allow them to start the race with as much fuel as they like. The full-tank qualifying doesn't shuffle the grid, because the teams all do roughly the same. And it doesn't add any viewer interest, because they won't tell us how much fuel everyone's starting with (which might add some interest)! Iby Rubidius - F1
Not really, they don't write the rules of the sport, do they? Isn't it a bit hypocritical of the FIA to have a qualifying fuel-burn, and at the same time to introduce heat-capture and regenerative braking (for environmental reasons)?by Rubidius - F1
I quite like it. It's quite relaxing. And at least all the colours go well with each other, which is more than you can say for Renault.by Rubidius - F1
I've just remembered where I read the explanation (about green light meaning rookie). It was in Racing Line, McLaren's magazine, aaages ago when they did a monthly series looking at different parts of the car. I don't subscribe to it, but I have a summer job at a company sponsored by McLaren, so they send a copy to the office. If anybody has a load of back issues, maybe they couldby Rubidius - F1
The green light really does mean rookie. I read it on one of the team's websites ages ago, where they had a description of each part of the car - and it definitely said that a green light in testing mean a rookie. It's not a fixed rule, it's just an agreement between teams, so perhaps they needed to put Piquet in a car but didn't have time to change the light over. I donby Rubidius - F1
