Have they stopped adding on an extra practice on Thursdays for new tracks? I remember in Argentina in 1995 and Melbourne in 1996 there was the extra practice because it was a new circuits for modern Formula 1 cars (have to word that carefully because Beunos Aires did have F1 races in the past on the longer circuit). I'm assuming they won't do this for Valencia though? Can't remembe

Other Games Does anyone remember this game from a long time ago? It was an F1 management game made by some independent company. I had it on the commodore amiga and was addicted to it in the mid 90s. The graphics and sound were awful but there was something about it that was just so addictive.
It had this thing where at the pitstops you had to aim the cursor for the middle of a big picture of a tyre as qui

Other Games Thinking back, just like Winckelhock, Deletraz had his own little moment of fame at the Nuburgring!
A little different to Winckelhock's though!

F1 We got two future multiple world champion drivers back in 1991 too..although at different points in the season...and those two had already had on track tussles in lower formulae...i'm sure you know who i'm talking about!

Grand Prix 3 Thats the way of modern formula 1 though. Outside of the car, its business, making sure all those ho have invested money in the team gets a mention.
Its been like that since i started watching formula 1. Its the events surrounding the race i find interesting
Take Jean Alesi for example...its not his comments to the press i remember, its confronting those in the gravel trap who he just colli

F1 Thinking about it, didn't Eric Van de Poele have a go at qualifying the other Brabham in 92? Wasn't he sucessful at getting it onto the grid a couple of times?
Hill was Williams test driver at the time, back when the top teams would lend their test drivers to back of the grid teams...Hill was still allowed the test the Williams while racing the Brabham wasn't he?

F1 OK, nit picking time. Just a few tiny errors i've noticed in previous posts.
Damon won in Hungary in 95 and finished 2nd in 96...not the other way around. And he finished 6th there in 99.
And Damon's race debut was actually Silverstone 92, he managed to qualify the Brabham there first!
Sorry, i'm being pedantic i know! I have no right to post this with some of the howlers

F1 I visited what was left of Lotus F1 back in 1998. They were in a unit on a small industrial estate in Wymondham in Norfolk. It was a fantastic afternoon and i understood then how special it was to be up close to a formula 1 car. I got to sit in Alessandro Zanardi's 94 Lotus and it was very speical indeed.
Talking to one of the mechanics was very interesting. He told me how much he missed

F1 OK, maybe kubica was the wrong example because that was genuinely worrying to watch at the time....maybe something like Burti at the start of the German grand prix in 2001 would be a better example.

F1 I think F1 should still be safe...but conversely, the drama that comes with a big accident can add to event and can make headlines. That gasp and holding the breath when an accident happens and a sigh of relief when you realise the driver is alright. Need to make sure that there is always that sigh of relief though.
Kubica in Canada was a reminder that huge crashes can still hapen...and for me

F1 Franck Lagorce got 2 races in at the end of 1994, (again, correct me if i'm wrong), but that was it for him. There were so many driver changes at the end of 1994 amongst the midfield and back end teams.
And i feel sorry for Sospiri, his only attempt was trying to qualify that Lola in Australia in 1997.

Grand Prix 3 Can't believe no-one has mentioned the commodore amiga yet. You could play GP1 on that as well. Someone from Norwich made an editor for it. You sent him an envelope with your name on it and a £1 coin, he sent you the envelope back with a disk inside with the editor on! Send him a pound coin now and again and he'll send you the updates...all pre-internet of course!

Other Games Yeah, raced in the England team alongside Ralph Firman. Didn't do so well, set it up to be quite tricky. Won just one race all season and England finished 5th in the top league..which means i get to race in the top league again!

Grand Prix 3 I think all of the A1GP stuff that been made for GP3 in brilliant...including this.
I've had a lot of fun with it all...I've mixed and matched lots of it to create my own World Championship league thing. Three different leagues, 33 different countries, (had to create a couple to make up numbers..for example, broke down the United Kingdom into England, Scotland and Wales, Northern Ire

Grand Prix 3 I was thinking Mark Blundell but i think he managed 3rd place twice.
Well done for answering my original qestions...it takes a lot to catch you guys out!
Also, what about Stefano Modena? How many times did he make it to the podium? I remember him qualifying on the front row in Monaco in 1991...but i think it was actually the race after that in Canada that he gained 3rd place after Mansell

F1 OK, a bit of a quiz for you, who can think of those drivers who have made that journey to a podium only once in their career. You know, those 2nd and 3rd places that get forgotten over time.
So who can name the races that these drivers made their single podium appearences in...and who can think of others to test people with?
Gianni Morbidelli
Aguri Suzuki
Nicola Larini

F1 1996 for me.
Damon Hill keeping hearts in mouths all season. Should have got it sewn up at Monza but we had to wait until the very end!
Jacques Villeneuve challenging all the way.
Schumacher putting some amazing drives in a bad Ferrari.
Dabid Coulthard's little shows of form at the Nurburgring and Imola. Hill's strategy at Imola was interesting too if i remember correctly.

Good luck to the team who are working on this problem. This is truly one of the greatest resources us GP3 gamers have...and one of the last remaining decent ones...i really hope it can be saved.

Grand Prix 3 I love racing at Monza...particularly the race where my 2nd stop was quite late on and i was able to fight my way to the front past all the one stoppers on worn tyres. Spa is also good fun. I also like Silverstone a lot.
