Hi everyone, I'm currently doing a full season on F1GP, trying to make it as hard as possible. It started simply with no qualification as a mean to save money. It escalated quickly to no pit stop, no damage allowed (cost saving again, after having an accident). I also tried using the least effective tyres for a track, and an another track I started the race without any practise beforehanby zifox - Other Games
No issue at all with a migration, if you need people to do some testing i'll gladly participate.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
You have an issue with animation data, i guess the anim.wad file was updated when installing of one the mod, and it's conflicting with other files or corrupt. Also, given the amount of errors you have while loading cars, there's also something wrong in the cars.wad file. maybe not related to the crash, but it doesn't seem to be clean.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
I remembered a function I couldn't find when I first answered, finally I found it: when you open a .dat, there is an option to import layout data from GP4 file. I don't know what it does exactly, you could try, maybe it will update the sectors correctly ? (it's in the action menu)by zifox - Grand Prix 4
... and their reflections. Since I have started to play a new season using mainly tracks updated by Hega's and gap177, i've been wondering about the use of skydomes in the track. Although they allow us to have a wonderful view when taking screenshots and populate the sky in dry weather, they have a few drawbacks, like causing much more reflections on cars, triggering visibilty isby zifox - Grand Prix 4
I've updated the two cockpit packs to reduce the amount of reflection. I'm wondering if there is a way to get smoother reflections ? I've tried fiddling with the mesh normals, but it doesn't change the aliasing.by zifox - Grand Prix 4

I'm wondering why you have such a large shadow on the ground ? The ground and the car have been rendered separately ?by zifox - Grand Prix 4
You should check the drivers of your wheel/pedals, I don't have any issue with my wheel (G27, I can also combine the pedals axes in the logitech drivers, in this case GP4 sees only one axis), and I know people driving with a T500, it's working also with separate axes. I think GP4 handles up to 6 axes, if the game sees only one axis on your controller, I'm pretty sure that becausby zifox - Grand Prix 4
It started as a joke, then materialized during a boring evening: I started a full season without qualification session, because my virtual driver has no money and need to save precious bucks in tyres. And because the harder the better, I also assign myself penances for braking the car during the race, since it costs money to repair.by zifox - Other Games

Hey, I have no idea of what you're on about, I don't watch / follow F1 anymore, it got boring many years back. You should watch MotoGP or Superbike, there may be some negative sides to it, but at least there is real fights on the track, it's entertaining from start to end.by zifox - Grand Prix 4
If you have installed the patch 9.6 correctly, you should have something like this:by zifox - Grand Prix 4
TGF1Driver2 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is it only happening for three cars or for all > cars, but only in some views? The reason for this question is that if you installed the 1.02 patch, three drivers have their helmet textures not in the cars.wad file, but in the "cars" subfolder at the root of your install directory. Thanks for the tip. I tried you settings (which are not far from what I had), but it had no effect. I tried to completely change the values, it had no effect on the cars or the track illumination. I replaced the texture used by the dome (cloud-07), by another darker one, and the magic happened ! Finally ! Ok, it's the same helmet pack i'm using (Arai shape), i'm going to download your pack. It seems you've bundle the same cars I did, maybe your alpha fixs will be useful to me. I've started to look at the track dome/cloud issue: fongu: I've removed the main cloud object as your mentionned, and yes, the reflection issue is solved, but i've lost the sky. I'm a bit puzzled by the end of your sentence: is there a link between sky dome and dynamic reflections ? I will compare the tracks I have and see if there are differences between them regarding the sky dome. I suppose it has attributes that can control the amount of light the cars will receive ?by zifox - Grand Prix 4
After some work in photoshop and some time spent fixing texture compression (i realized after fixing the alpha layer that 3/4 of my helmet texture were in dxt1, no alpha...), I have something homogeneous, but a bit too reflective / shiny to my taste. What do you think ? @Monaco, without helmet fix @A1Ring without helmet fix @A1Ring with helmet fix Compared to Hega'sby zifox - Grand Prix 4

Thanks for your answers, i'll look at the alpha channel of these cars: some cars are ok, so it's definitely not a track issue. I'll have to change the helmets as well. I'm a bit puzzled about your remark on static vs dynamic envmapping: one is stronger than the other, meaning textures have to be created for one or the other type ?by zifox - Grand Prix 4
A few years back I put together a carset for 2006, and I've been trying to use it today, but I have reflection issue on some cars, and on helmet: everything seems to be over bright, as the screenshots shows: In the screenshots above, it's mostly cloudy and raining in some parts of the track. On the few cars that are not over reflective, you can see the difference beby zifox - Grand Prix 4
GP4 does not lists the actual resolutions your computer can do, it has only a set of predefined values, so to use a 16/9 aspect ratio you need to edit the f1graphics.cfg file, in the install folder. Edit the horizontal and vertical resolution values that are near the top of the file (with prefix). Note that once you set a value that is not in the predefined list, the game will display 800x60by zifox - Grand Prix 4
