Would anyone know if I could run the game on my PC?

This is what I have, but I'm not sure about (the rest is fine):

Athlon XP 2200+ @ 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM, Graphics Card: GeForce FX 5200

That won't be enough. Requirements are:

OS: XP / Vista® / Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz or Athlon X2
Memory: 1 GB RAM (2 GB Vista® / Windows 7)
Hard Disk Space: 12.5 GB free hard drive space
Video: GeForce 7800 / Radeon X1800 or above

Can anyone give me any general advice for Barcelona? I've always hated it but now it's starting to annoy me.

I started a new career, stuck the AI on Professional (I can't hack Legend) and all aids are off except the gears. I'm driving with Williams and I've managed to quali in the top ten in Bahrain, Aus, Sepang and China but in Barcelona I'm three seconds off the Virgins and I have no idea why. I've tried multiple setups but it's getting me nowhere.

What gives??

Try if possible to use manual gears. Because of all the wheelspin you get at low speeds, auto gears loses you a lot because it doesn't change at the optimal time.

I can use them, I use them in Forza and PGR but the Codies game just doesn't feel right. I dunno if that's me or the game being strange though. I've managed to reduce a lot of the wheelspin by setting up the pedals slightly differently but I still get a bit. I guess I will have to try again.

There are a couple of hideous corners where I seem to just drift wide though, where the AI keeps more speed. Seems to do this with high and low downforce. Hmm.

Not played F12010 in an awful long time but I do remember the AI being ridiculously fast at Barcelona, so I think its probably the game and not you!

Yes, I agree. I found Barcelona very tough going. Those bends drove me around the bend....

Barcelona really sucks, don't know how Codies ever could release the game with a track where the AI is so much better to you compared to all the other tracks ... For the best you could set the difficulty back one notch for this race. (I personally can't since I'm racing on expert for the achievement atm I'm at Turkey anyway :P)

Not read the whole thread, but im thinking of getting this game now. My only issue is the replay issue. I tested the game on my system (i did aquire it byu other means when it was released) but found to get more than 2-3 laps was pretty much impossible whatever settings I used. I dont have a secondary hard drive and the external ive got wont be fast enough.

Has this problem been officially fixed? that seems to be the only thing stopping me get it? failing that though, I gather many have had the issue so will they fix it for 2011?

Well if they ever sort that replay issue out then I think i will. By that time it will probably be cheap too and maybe more patches/community work will sort it out? If the community is as good as the GP4/rf one then quality stuff will arrive.

What's this replay issue?

Get it on a console, it seems a bit more playable. I have my own issues with the replays but that's to do with the ridiculous camera positionings.

I should add that stupid design decisions and shite physics aside, the game is fun if you don't take it too seriously.

Getting it for console would be even worse, don't even consider it! Codemasters abandoned F1 2010 months ago, if you end up being a fool and giving them money, at least try the PC as maybe there'll be someone who actually does something to properly mod the game. The PC at least allows people to mod some of the physics/AI, although the AI still is ultimately faulty.

Don't expect any significant modding, Codemasters games are traditionally built not to be modded.

The most you will get is what is already released - livery and texture updates, and lighting updates. There isn't going to be new tracks or new mods added any time soon.

GP4 was the same though, although it did take about 4 years for the first track to be released.
