* No night racing, I give you that one..

* Fictional GT Cars? Well, that's not entirely true. And then again, the amount of cars is really high which is very nice.

* A ropey Nurburgring? Sure, whatever you think, but still, it's the best in my opinion. rF's Ring is really nice too, it may be better, but the overall feel of Evo's Nurburgring is more real life to me...

But then again, it all comes down to taste..

It is true. Fictional teams, fictional liveries and performance balanced physics.

Evos ring is poorly made, more inaccurate and has absolutely no atmosphere what-so-ever. Ring 2.2a is by far the best ring. If you want sports car racing, GTR2 is still the daddy.

GTR Evo is a fine game, it's a shame that it doesn't have more Extreme cars. Because I like them, but there are too little of them (only 14). They could really add some fantasy teams or non-factory teams from WTCC. I drove some laps (well, about 20 to 30) of Nurburgring in GTR2 and this one in GTR Evo is quite different in some parts but I don't know which one is more real.

I drove the GT Sport and Pro cars right from the off.
Then I tried out the WTCC extremes, but although they are faster, I felt they are just a bit too 'nice' to drive to keep me interested.
I'll be sticking with the GTs for a while yet.

Erm, here's a comparison, side by side

I will accept that the trees are a lighter shade of green in real life, but maybe they made a 'summer' track? ;)

And then come to Ring 2.2a ;-) Better textures, more accurate mesh, more, and better bumps, and probably one of the most important things - immersion. It feels like the Ring, and it feels like it has atmosphere. Simbin one just feels like some roads in a forest.

Having looked at some screenshots for 2.2a, it does look very very nice indeed.
There are more shades of green used, a nice misty effect, and yes it does look a bit more atmospheric.
I don't think that means the simbin version is poor by any means, and as for bumps, well, until I've driven the real life version I'll have to take your word for it ;)

Technically, there is way to do night racing but it sucks too much. I tried it today by editing the PLR file (Change the "Use System Time : "0" to "1";) and the car's headlights do not light up the road very much. Unless Simbin release a patch to fix that then I do not know. By the way, this trick only works in the R-Cade Mode.

Also, any F1 mods out there for this? Preferably not on the F300 shape

There's CTDP's F1 05 mod for Race 07 that will work in Evo.

[dl.free.fr]

Looks nice, I've downloaded it, but it needs some editing though, the ai spend half the time trying to kill each other ;)
