ooo good question! my faviourite games are ones that hold my attention - i've played lots of great games, but usually get bored after a couple of weeks.

GPL - wasted an awful lot of time one that!
ESPN NFL 2k4 - holy hell, racked up over 200hours on that :o

but my all time favourite, would probably have to be the pokemon series - on the red, yellow and silver i have here, i currently have over 300hours racked up, and i've played thru each a few times, plus i have diamond at 30hrs (2nd time thru) so probably getting close to 500hours!

Sim

....dude. Just...dude.

Anyway,

NASCAR Racing 2003 was by far one of my favorites, as well as the Half Life Series. Portal is actually a *perfect* game too.

Might be 1 of these games wich I didnt get bored for years..

Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge
Stunts (also known as '4D Sports: Driving';)
Grand Prix 2

And to mention also 1 game from latest 10 years I most say 'Rally Masters: Michelin Race of Champions' wich did look great specially with some texture updates and was even better to drive. :)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Crono Trigger - possibly the most complete computer game of all-time IMHO. Even without all the side-quests it's about 70 hours of playing time, the characters are really well done for their time, and the bosses are actually pretty damn challenging.

Football Manager - This series is time-consuming in every format. Love it!

Final Fantasy IV - First FF game available on SNES, an epic game and my favourite of the series. It suffers like all the FF games from being too linear so the re-playability isn't great, but it's the best storyline by FAR.

Mafia
The GTA series (I've played that an awful lot. So much infact that I talk along with most radio stations on VC :/)
GrandPrix 2. That was really one of the best games I've ever played, it was so good for its time!
Red Alert
GPL
rFactor

Can't think of any more now :P

Favourite: GPL by miles and miles. I'm currently in the enjoyment mode having gone through the stupidly competitive phase (GPLRank) and the OMG I must win phase (VaderTrophy). Slowly winding down a career in sim-racing... that's got to hit new levels of nerdiness. It is flawed and is too difficult for most, but that's half of my love affair with it.

2nd favourite: The NASCAR Racing 2003 mod GTP. Again, technically flawed (quite a lot when you get into it), but still very good. Not my favourite to drive, but such a laugh with the rest of the VTR guys on Ventrilo when we're doing our endurance races. Dave, you need to get yourself on Ventrilo occasionally if you're not going to race. :P

3rd: No idea. I suppose I enjoyed many years of GPx before GPL shut that window in my face. Never had a computer of my own to play Indy 500 or Indycar Racing or they'd be up there with GPL. I'll go for something a little more different. Bubble Bobble. Many a fun day playing that on some mate's Spectrum something or other back in the late 80s.

Other notable mentions to Football Manager/Championship Manager (never quite got to the addicted stage), Unreal Tournament (the original only, well GOTY edition) and any of the Worms games before 3D. All are still great fun now.

Locke Cole pretty much nailed 2 right there with Chrono Trigger and FM. Anyway, my list:

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is out of this world... I was so involved by the story and it was my 1st game with a real story (I was almost 14 when I got it). But the Zelda series is usually superb, so you can fit Twilight Princess in there too and probably Wind Waker (I am farther with Twilight, hehe).

Football Manager (Championship Manager 3 until CM 01/02, then FM for me). Super addictive, mostly very well made and it's about footy, the greatest passion in the history of the universe (they play it in Andromeda galaxy).

Chrono Trigger: once again, dead-on regarding engaging story, characters... just SO good. It's a shame the Chrono Trigger 3d project had to be shut down, I want that with proper graphics and sound. That game is a beauty.

Shadow of the Colossus: don't rent it, buy it. It is a short game, can be finished in 12 hours if you choose to do some exploring, but it is something it can't be explained. It's like art but in game form. Incredibly touching, very few characters (the hero, his trusty horse, the dead girl, and the colossii) in a vast world, and a storyline that will really get some knots in your throat. The soundtrack is on par with the best tunes of Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda, and I had a sig here for months that was about this game.

Grand Prix 2: my first game of the series, played so many championships and the best game of the series overall, I'd say.

Pro Evolution Soccer: unfortunately the series hasn't had a good next-gen game yet, but it absolutely rocks in the PS2 form.

Skies of Arcadia: my first RPG, and the first and last great RPG for the Dreamcast. This game was so well made, had amazing scenery and sweet graphics, a good story and was very captivating with good characters. I was devastated when I lost my save, I had 48 hours logged when I accidentally erased my memory card :(. This game was also released on the PS2 but had some small additions to it.

Other games I have to mention are Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur and NBA/NFL 2k series, but they don't make the favorite list because of too many sequels hurting the story (SC), and gameplay issues with NBA/NFL 2k (I don't have next-gen stuff though). Also, Skies of Arcadia was a mighty fun game and a very good rpg! Shame the fate of the Dreamcast killed it.

Best space shooter ever ;) Was so perplexed why Microsoft decided not make a followup seen as how well it sold and how popular it was!

Damn!! Forgot all about Champ Manager/FM and GTA!

I spent loads of time on Sensible Soccer as a child so that'd have to be one of my favs...then on the pc it was all about GP2 and GP3, those GPEDIT programs were awesome for people who liked to edit the car skins.

Grand Theft Auto has to get a mention, I remember swapping my Ultimate Soccer Manager 98 for a friends GTA, it was awesome...if you put the CD in a audio player it would play the soundtrack (well..the radio stations). Spent a lot of time on GTA3 too.

Max Payne also deserves a mention, one of few games I've gone through and played a few times. Loved it!

More recently I enjoyed Bioshock on the 360, not a perfect game but it was hard to put down (maybe due to the fact you don't really die on it so it's hard to stop..)
