Does anyone have this?

It's what I'm playing at the moment because my PC is broken. It was quite good for its time, nice damage model, but criminally hard.

Any takers? :D

my favourite game ever... you know you can donwload the carsets and stuff...

i remmeber playing the demo for like 2 years and then one day a mate from school heard me and my best friend talking about this game, and the guy said he had the game... we didn't believed him at first because he wasn't the type of person that likes auto racing... but it turned out to be true,. i had no idea where he got it but once he leaned it over.. man, i played it for like 12 hrs a day.. i got addicted to it!

Where are these carsets??? What about graphical updates?

Once you learn how to control it, and once you get used to the pesky sounds, it's awesome. This game taught me how to ride Laguna Seca...

I believe it was called Indycar Racing II and CART Racing, in different countries. I know my version is called CART Racing - I still have the box as proof :P

Isn't that the Microsoft published game? I remember some CART Precision Racing 2 or something, and it seemed to be very good.

I believe that was a later game, gui, I have both kicking about somewhere in this house hah.

The screenshot above looks earlier, from the papyrus indycar/cart game.

Didnt MS cart precision have a special version of Rio oval that included a jump? If my memory serves me correctly.

UK.

I think I bought it in Macro though, there is a possibility it was an import.

Actually...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia..

"IndyCar Racing II is a racing game developed by Papyrus Design Group. It is the sequel to IndyCar Racing, and was released in 1995. A little over a year later, the game was re-released, with a few minor upgrades, under the title CART Racing. The name change came about as a result of the CART series losing licensing rights to the name IndyCar, after splitting from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IRL in 1996."

Ja, same game.

It is Indycar 2 Neil, unless you never got Indycar. As far as I remember Indycar 1 was DOS only (or DOS window), and Indycar 2 ran in a Windows window.

Indycar 1. Most revolutionary racing simulation ever in my opinion, perhaps only second to Indy 500, also by Papyrus. As much as I love GPL, Indycar beat it to a pulp. GPx was never as good as the others IMO, even though I barely played anything else until late 2001 or so.

I seriously thought Indycar Racing 2 was more hi res than that, screenshots i found in google suggest i am wrong so oh well :)

Yes Indycar racing was just amazing. I put in alot of time to that game, even tho i didnt really know what I was doing i didnt do setups or nothing just drove. Lots of fun!

i too was addicted to papyrus virgin endorsed indycar racing.

i still have the original boxed copy and all four floppies it came to install it on hahaha!

dad confiscated it when i drove three 100% races in a row and i never got it back for 6 years as it was hidden and forgotten in his wedding jacket in the closet LOL!

well i found 3 of the disks over the years, but the final one was so difficult and was only found about 2 years ago when we moved house. bearing in mind it was confiscated in 1996 haha!

the intro was awesome....bowmmbb bow bow bow bom do do do do dee dee deee!!

i cud never make my car on fire like bobby rahal in the manual. oh how i tried!

i loved milwaukee the most.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

I just messed up at Mid Ohio.

I am still impressed with the physics.

I am also impressed with the fact that I've never made a movie before in my life but in 10 minutes I managed to work out how to overlay music over video clips and this is the shoddy result:

:D

you can download the entire game,(not the demo) online. I did. and I found a website where you can download all of the latest cars and tracks. they also have utilities to change the sound to a more realistic engine.

is the 99 carset with the 2k carshape... is a complete new chassis, based on the Reynard... it's such an improvement you'll have tremendous fun!!

if you want more stuff for the game check

i used to have a track converter, it converted any track from any nascar game from Nascar 1 up to nascar 3 by papyrus... even NR99...

and a video with the carset at a totally new made track Detroit 99
