hey everyone
ive hit the ripe old age of 18 now and can use paypal haha.
so now im thinking of buying rFactor and may be able to get a good deal on a g25 , i was contemplating getting a momo racing wheel but i may be able to get a g25 for only a little bit more.

So my question is what is the advantage of playing rfacotre and how many decent mods are there . not crap ones
ahaha
thanks

The advantage of rFactor is that you can play it online and the physics are better. There are hundreds of mods out there, with many crap but also many decent ones. Also there are hundreds of tracks to choose from.

IMO it's much better than GP4.

take a look at www.rfactorcentral. I bet you will find some series and tracks you find interesting. ISI took al criticism and rFactor addressed F1c's biggest flaws. It runs smooth, nice graphics, great netcode and easy to mod. There have been 4 additional patches since the release, which added many more wished features.

rfactor has some serious flaws, most of which are found in F1C, they did fix alot of the crap from F1C, however still alot of flaws from it. For me the graphics are poor. running on full details it just looks wierd. for me, Nr2003 looks alot better. For me it wasnt worth it, but for alot of others they really enjoy the game, so you might like it.

Get the G25

I wouldn't say there were many serious flaws. It's better than it was. It still doesn't feel right for me, and I'll probably never race seriously on it.

That said, it is very flexible, and while there are hundreds of mods, and most of them are crap, it's more than worth it for the 5-10 excellent mods. If you're not sure which form of racing you want, then it's hard to go wrong with rFactor, to be honest.

I'll also disagree with Neil - I think the graphics are awesome on the mods... the textures on the base game are piss-poor, but it was never meant as a game to race out of the box, so I can't really hold that against them. The sense of immersion at the fictional Lienz track(s) is unreal - miles above anything I can remember seeing in any sim, not just motor-racing.

i assume you havent raced VLM LeMans then.....or Teh Ring by Com8 or even Racekinds scratch version.
Tons of good looking tracks. Graphically its the best looking sim out there.
I enjoy racing it as well. Although peoples opinions differ.

The V8's do have a nice feel to them, and probably my favourite feeling cars available...

Havent got any of the tracks though, only Bathurst.

For me RFactor will never be a good racing game.
I've got the feeling the physics are wrong.

Games that are good upon me: GTR(2), Netkar pro, GTL

Uhm dude, its the rFactor physics and engine that powers both GTR2 and GTL. With some minor tweaks, they are the same.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

I thought the gt games used their own physics and just used a modified version of rfactors graphics engine?

Nope. Open up the files that hold the values for the cars and you will see just how close they are to each other. Most of the lines are completely the same, and then you have the odd thing added/removed/tweaked. I think that the biggest difference is that the GT games have a tyre model that is reworked quite a bit. You have more grip, and it is more forgiving than rFactor. Still the differences between rFactor, GTR2 and GTL are mostly polish and a bit of extra effort.
