The contract for F1 rights ran out at the end of 06...Hopefully Crammond could pull his finger out and get them back....maybe then we could see the coveted GP5..

You'll never see an F1 simulation in a long time. Companies couldn't afford to fill such a niche market at the cost of the license.

Arcade games will out sell a simulation because of their nature. GT4, F1 etc on the PS2,PS3,Xbox360 whatever equalivant racing games are all designed and made for the mass market. Publishers want to maximise their profits and tbh probably can't afford to have a bad title.

I've been bored of consoles for ages now because I feel publishers are too scared to take a risk and try something different. Every game seems to be a take off of another game and no real new ideas seem to get through all that often.

As nice as this game looked when I saw it at Autosport, it's no where near what I'd call realistic in the current crop of PC simulations.

I understand where your coming from, but that isn't exclusive to consoles, PC games seem to be like that too for the majority of the time, the 360 has games like Viva Pinata, Lego Star Wars, Rockstar Table Tennis, Test Drive Unlimited etc which are far from your normal run of the mill console game, The Wii has even more original games due to its new controller design!

Some people must be easily impressred. Because that looks worse than GP4 and certainly worse than rFactor/GTR2/etc

Hell, those shapes are far from right!

@ Marc: I'd think it's something from Franz Ferdinand, but I am not sure.

@Nickv, i have everything Franz have ever recorded, and that's not Franz, lol. I can understand where you're coming from though-sounds a little bit like a heavily edited version of the Outsiders riff

back on topic, the rain effects look good ofr a console, othre than that, has to be said GP4 can do everything

I saw it in action this Saturday at a Best Buy store nearby, it looked pretty cool and without the washed out graphics (for whatever reason). I couldn't play though... the PS3 was only showing videos. But the sound of the crashes made me laugh, haha. "BOOM!"

@Harjinator your right it sounds something like from that kind of scene Kaiser Cheifs, Arctic Monkeys, The Automatic etc

The video looked really good but the pictures arent so great :s
I was definately gonna buy a PS3 when I got the money but I'm looking more towards the Wii now what with new Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros coming out, but PS3 has new Metal Gear...
But still Grand Prix 4 will always win over any arcade F1 sim

i'm personally hoping that Konami decide that releasing MGS on a single format is a bad idea and release a PC version... or at least an XBox 360 version (seeing as they're cheaper!)

oh yeah, quick qu, if i have a PS2, obv it's legal for me to use an emulator (because i own the actual console), is it still legal even if said console is kaput? ie it won't load any discs!

Not a chance in hell unless the PS3 completly fails. The last MGS was only released on the PS2 :(

I agree, F1 97 was amazing, with its proper timing, car collisions etc, plus Murray commentating. I played F1 for PS3 and it just looked like a cartoon, almost like F1 06 with the brightness turned up. There's a youtube vid for the 1995 GP4 mod full of crashes; now that's what I call good graphics
