Can't reactivate rFactor =(

Ive just installed windows vista and i cant play rfactor i get this silly error when i try to activate: We're sorry. The coupon code you entered cannot be used with this product or purchasing method. Please check your coupon code and re-enter it.
Maximum number of uses for coupon already been reached

I cant see how this can be as ive only ever used my code once before.

Is it possible that someone may have stole my code some how?

Ive still got the original windows xp installation on a different partition, is there anyway i could transfer some file over to make rFactor work again?

Reading the rfactor/ISI/TryMedia FAQs will answer this. But im in a good mood, so I'll answer it here.

Email TryMedia with the email address you used to buy rfactor with. Ask for another unlock code. They should reply within 48 hours. If they do not reply, email ISI, they will give them a kick up the ass and you'll get a reply (I didnt get a reply in 3 days, i emailed ISI, and within 2 hours i got the reply).

You could try copying the TryMedia folder from

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Trymedia

and putting it in the correct place in the Vista install, but because its a different operating system the chances are it wont work (no harm in trying).

Vista is plain poor in terms of support imo, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work...

Im a idiot

I was trying to use my purchase code or something, looked through my old emails and there was one from trymedia for my reactivation code.

Vista is actually pretty good its pretty stable and hasnt crashed on me yet, rfactor runs about 5fps down on xp and football manager 06 is sluggish at times.

What? Vista RC1 has had very few complaints so far, and in terms of support, at the moment its a CLOSED BETA, so of course they dont have a oublic support thats awesome.

rfactor runs fine on Vista btw.

To all intents and purposes, yes. Pre-RC1 is the latest public release (now closed), and it's just a later build of BETA2 used for preparing RC1 (which will also be public). RC1 is currently internal only and not quite the 'final' RC1 (final as in the release candidate). This version will be made available to MSDN subscribers "this week", and to CPP in the "coming days".

Thats just splitting hairs tbh.

Vista RC1 doesn't exist.

It’s official — Windows Vista RC1 is done!

It's not. It's a different build. Do you have an MSDN subscription?

I haven't actually read this thread, so I don't know who's right. Some would say this post is spam, I would say it's utter brilliance!

Anyway... I wouldn't get your hopes up on seeing that happening any time soon. :p

TBH he has never been right about anything, I think we should have a poll about this, but unfortunately this forum software doesn't support them, or we'd see the name "Incast" more often.

OK, the MSDN version isn't RC1. Fact is nobody has RC1 other than internal testers. Even official BETA testers shouldn't have it, let alone the Joe Public ones. No idea if it's been leaked though.

And no, the version the internals have isn't the version that will be released via MSDN or to the public. It'll be at least 1 build further than the current internal one.

I apologise for suggesting that Dave didn't have RC1.

And welcome the hoards from MSN who come for the feast. Whatever would we do without you?
