If the copyright was held by Papyrus, then they cannot really do anything as they do not exist as a business entity. If it was held by named members of Papyrus, i would imagine that they could.

It's more likely that the current distributer of the game (i.e. whoever does the Sold Out version) is the copyright holder now.

En contraire my friend. Sold Out do not own copyrights to any of the games they repackage and sell budget. IIRC Sold Out is actually a division of EA.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10; indeed, it's a common requirement in fairy tales. If the human didn't have to overcome huge odds, what would be the point? Terry Pratchett - The Science Of Discworld

In the smallprint on the back of my Sold Out GPL case it states "©1998 Sierra On-Line, Inc." at the beginning and towards the end states "Published under licence by Sold Out Sales and Marketing Ltd.".

I guess this means that the original publisher Sierra still holds the rights, not the current publisher nor the game developers.

The rights are still by Sierra - it's defintly illigal what this guy has done.

I would guess sold out software's, since they sell the game so must have paid some money for the license or something. People who won't but it just shock me if they download it - it's only £5 :o
