Maybe the jpeg compression could be one way of making the screens look better. Is it Gui who posted earlier, with amazing looking screens and did he not say it was because of the compression?

Yeah, until I installed PS7 on the PC downstairs (took me only about a year ;)) I had to get rF compressed shots (which meant a 5.5mb file turned into a 137kb one). Now I just save on photoshop to jpg on level 12.

Bruno, try turning on the anti-alias in your game to maybe x4, could help. In mine I actually cranked up the resolution to 1600x1200 and turned down some detail, the anti-alias is now x2 and it runs very well.

And about tracks, Dave reinforced and expanded very well on my commentary... but where do I find the new trackpack? I am a bit lost now that rtracker.org is down. Also, this is @ Karan and Sté, which sky textures do you two have?

Well Senna, ofcourse you want to run as high a resolution as you can with satisfactory performance. With your system I would guess somewhere at 1280x1024 (or if you have a widescreen monitor maybe 1400x900). Then in your AF settings you can try starting off with 8x (16x might be a bit much for that video card to handle) and then similarly with AA start off with 4x as 6x or higher might be too much. If the FPS is still too low you can try bumping the AA down to 2x.

Then ingame you have to experiment a bit as well. You can try turning down things like environment and shadows to be able to run car and track details are higher settings. Try reducing the number of AI cars, and the cars displayed on screen at a time to be able to run higher fps too while still mainting your quality. and finally resizing the screen (using the right process) can make the visual quality appear a little better too. But dont use too much compression.

Gui I just use the some skytextures from Hudson Kerr's skypak I & II. I found them to be the most photorealistic (well since theyre actual photographs with some modifications) and pretty high res so you dont notice as much pixelation and deformation ingame.

Thanks Karan (and Sté over MSN), I had them too but the night textures were too bright for my taste so I deleted them. The 24hr skies are alright, higher res would make them prettier though
