Wow! Realistic looking nightdriving with f1cars possible too? Great!

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

yeah, just remember f1 cars don't have lights.... so it's a bit scary :p

its the day to night and night to day transitions thaat are going to be the most impresive i think ;-)

i hope your joking, last thing i want from a new sim is fancy nighttime/day time effects

i want realistic physics and Ai above anything else and good net play

Yep! Most important thing is physics and Ai but I like night driving..

@six degrees:
Yes I know that f1cars doesnt have lights but there can be some lights on side of the track..

rFactor isnt designed to give us amazing physics out of the box. Its deisnged to be modable so mod groups can give us amazing physics.

Not to say, that even the original physics already drive fantastic.

Yep, rFactor is about giving us a good driving model. If it does that so you can actually feel what the car is doing on the track, then the modders will no doubt create some imense cars to hurtle around in :D

I was thinking about this earlier today......................... i hope that this engine they are bringing out wont be like the papy ones where they all feel like nascar or F1C where all the different mods feel the same way when driving

I havent found many F1C mods that all drive the same, and i know of a whole host of NR2003 mods that arent NASCARs and therefore dont drive like NASCARs...

they all feel the same to me, F1C mods feel the same slidey way with out any noticeable increase of stability of grip, same for the papy games, mathmatically they might be different but they you can tell they are using a preferred physics engine

a touring car sim would,nt be miles away from a f1 sim in feel using the same engine and thats a concern i have for rFactor

hopefully it wont be the case

Well obviously you can feel they feel like there using the same engine, but that is totally different to all feeling like the origional physics.

F1C default, ETCC, Sportscar mods all feel completelty different. yes theres similarities because the Force Feedback system is the same, but the physics are totally different

Papy has 4 different physics built into it which all feel very different, then theres Ferrari 330s, GTPs (V1.0 and V1.1 which feel different), GT physics. Thats all totally different. Yes there is similarities because of the engine but the cars dont drive anything alike. I'd go as far as saying the GTP mod is so far from the origional NASCAR physics that the similarities are as little as possible.

rFactor is a tarted up F1C. But its tarted up in all the good ways (better graphics, better physics and more accessable, as well as stuff like timed races, night transitions etc), dont expect them mods to be miles ahead of the F1C ones because they wont be. Its still the same people making them. But do expect them to take advantage of rFactors new features and how open it is

I thought the differences and step forward from F1C to RFactor was impressive to say the least, over time i have put this on top of the current sims for me.

The way the car drives and pitches over bumps, under braking etc is head and shoulders above anything i have driven,

The papy stuff is probably the most sophisticated of the bunch and the problem i had with it was that while the nascar felt realistic under the weight of it all, when it came to other mods it still felt that same heavy way to me

GTP is a fantastic mod, but for me i thought it was too similar in away to nascar, sharing the same code its never going to be like a new game i know.

I'm looking forward immensely to RFactor and the F1 mod more than anything, but having sampled it in the demo and gotten used to way it drives in a saloon type car i'm having difficulty getting my head round the F1 sim not being that different

be interesting to see how they can fuse massive downforce with on the edge of adhesion twitchiness that we see constantly in realife F1

something that for me, has never been faithfully created successfully in any sim up to yet

thats my biggest concern :/

That's because most of the mods made have cars that are as heavy as NASCARS ;-)

Other than the graphics engine and menu system, I can't see what GTP has in common with NR2003, and I drive GTP in 12hr races ;)

To me GTP feels like nascar in that they both have 4 wheels and an engine but other than that one feels like a big heavy stockcar and the other feels like a sophisticated ground effect prototype.

no need for concern at all :)
