Dave, aren't you supposed to let the AI go drive around the track for a long time, so they learn it thus going faster?

Yeah Gui, but this is the highest difficulty rating and im beating them around a flat out oval by 20 seconds, and by about 10 seconds around the other tracks, which i dont know the layout of, dont fully know the cars, and am running the standard setups :-\

I hope they improve ALOT

as Jon posted about LFS ages ago... set a long race for the AI early in the morning, leave them on Pro, and when you come back home at night play them :)

Yes gui, i know this. But even trained up, in S1 they were far too slow. It seems S2 they are even worse. They were never this slow in S1 :(

Well... Dave, I imagine you're pretty active around the LFS forums, so you're probably coming up with an answer quite soon :)

you have to spend many hours training the ai, even on oval :( (wich sucks because its a super speedway)

I can see the benefit of training the AI yourself as each one will be different but there should at least be an option to have pre-trained AI as its just a pain in the ass IMO

i dont have the time to train the ai for every car in every track, it would take forever :|

anyway today i found out the difference in the tyres on the FO8, the R3's are alot more durable but way less grip... and harder to control the car to. i put the R2's on and went alot faster and more consistant. :D

I tried training them at Blackwood today in FO8s did quite a lot of races and they're now doing decent laptimes but they still make a worse mess than VT when they get to turn 1 everytime.

I got it working online and im impressed again. The net code is at least as good as NR2003s. The screen gets very messy with messages all over it so you have to pay attention to the track and tyr and glance at the messages when you have strights.

Still hate the menu system, almost as much as i hate the ISI menu systems but i can live with since the rest of the game is so good. The cars feel so alive when driving them. :)

I agree that the menu system, and the interface as a whole is bloody awful maybe they should get someone in who specialises in that sort of thing as its obviously not where their considerable talent lies, other main issues for me are the cockpits which are just abysmal when compared to GTR and even GTP, also the new rear wheel drive production cars are just so unstable I cant believe they're like like in reality. Other than that though it's great the GTR versions of the older cars are brilliant fun as are the single seaters, tracks are pretty good too although i'm not really a fan of having loads of different configurations it just gets confusing.

Can you guys post some shots of the game and the menus? :) Like the parts you guys think are the best and worse...

Theres no screenshot that would make you think "the menus suck". Its the layout. It doesnt seem logical. It has like 3 bits where graphics options are in. "Screen" "Display" and "Graphics" (i think), and what you think might be in one section is in another or whatever. Its just a very badly designed menu system

The sounds are once again far too weak and the "radio" is still completly impossible to udnerstand or get working without a proper manual.

And the AI which is still WIP (they cant pit for example)

These are my only complaints. Other than that its a fantastic game. I love how responsive the cars are, the FFB, the damage, graphics, everything. I love how the textures are stored as JPGs so it downloads all the skins when you connect. I love the net code too, its less dangerous than Papy netcode, where cars often explode with a small ammount of contact.

Cant wait for the final S2 if this is Alpha. God knows how good S3 will be :D

Pretty nice visual damage. Love how even the smallest damage to these GTR cars and you can feel it. Especailly at high speed.

Ah, so menus are similar to F1C in a way, then?

Thanks for the stuff Dave, always a good read. The helmet seems a bit nicer, at least from that shot. I made one - very quickly - for Ian, still waiting for ingame shots :)
