Probably. You need to find out the way to convert F12k2 cars etc to F1C, then get hold of the F1C stuff, and do the changes in reverse! Although you might have a few probs with damage models on the cars. A lot of the tracks though have been done for both.

Better to try and find F1C somewhere tho :)

Yeah. Really, F1 2002 was... is... bad. Compared to the games you could have instead.

So F1 Championship 99-02(The career one?) is the most recent and/or best EA F1 game?

Does it still get played online?

Yep, it's the most recent and definately the best. And it gets played on line a lot. You can't find much in the in-game server thingy, but if you use the external program to find games (I can't remember what it's called, F1rst maybe?), there are loads. There are loads of leagues etc as well.

F1C and GP4 will be pleayed for years to come because they are the last F1sims that are going to come out for about a decade!

That's right about the 'last f1 sims', what was the reason again though, I have forgotten! Is it because Sony has the F1 Liscence??(ie, no official F1 game on xbox? That said, perhaps Toca Race Driver 3 will feature F1 cars)

Yeah, Sony has the license. RD3? I wouldn't buy it if you paid me too (that's if there ever is one, and I hope there isn't!)

EDIT: Just to get this straight, the most recent(and most recently played?) F1 game is ea's F1 Challenge 99-02? So:

F1 2002 is an older game?
F1 Career challenge is also an older game?
F1 Championship/F1 Championship 99?(may not even be made by EA and therefore its much older anyway?

Yes there will be a Race Driver 3(or V8 Supercars 3 as it is marketed here in Australia). Yes, no mirrors is crap!( I race from hood view anyway, and only have it for xbox).

If you have xbox/ps2, IndyCar Season 2005 is more of a 'sim' in that it has tyre wear, fuel mixture settings, online play for 12people, and, mirrors!!! And also flags! However since it's based on the IRL, and not CART, it only has oval tracks.(called 2005 although apparently it's based on the 2003 season).

F1 Career Challenge is F1C, but for the xbox and PS2. It was released at the same time (ish), but they put a career in for the consoles for some reason.

F1Championship is EA too, as is F1C99, but obviously older.

I can't believe I wasted £30 on RD2 tho. They did release a patch for mirrors, but it hit the FPS too much.

How do the physics in F1C99-02 differ from F12002?

no idea, but if converting is possible, how can it be done?

In F12002, there's a lot of understeer, all of the time too. In F1C, a lot of that understeer has been removed, so the car feels quicker. Combined with other slight changes eg the way the car handles over the kerbs, this makes it feel much better. I much prefer the F1C physics to F1 2002 and to GP4 (even when I've heavily modded the GP4 ones). It feels like a light, nimble car.

I don't know how to convert from F1 2002 to F1C, hence why I didn't say at first :). Like I said, just find that out (try the High-Gear forums or RSC), and then do it in reverse.

ive tried converting, but there is lack of tutorials and help, no offence to F1C community, but tbh it is rather crap compared to this place. :)

id say jsut get F1C mate. converting is possible but ppl are too involved in F1C

the turbo mod was for F1 2002, then was the upgrade, but the modders decided to convert F1C and make the upgrade for that instead. :(

i have F1C now, but not installed atm. The V8 mod has best feel for a F1c mod :D

Is there a mirrors patch for RD2? :O My FPS is fine, so I might give it a go...

Hey Guys,

Just a quick clarification for you all.

EA Games

1) F1 2000
2) F1 2000 Championship season
3) F1 2001 - a major step forward over the previous two games
4) F1 2002 - a big step forward
5) F1 Championship '99 - '02 the final and best game of the series. Covers
seasons 1999-2002. Also referred to as F1C.

There are those people that feel that F1 2002 was not that bad at all, that F1 C is just a bit more refined. I have seen it written that F12002's physics were not that much different than F1C's.

I have backward converted tracks from F1C to F12002 - in most cases it is not that hard. I have never backward converted cars though. I tried but (not real hard) but was unsuccessful.

Thanks for clearing it up Frapee and Go Alesi.

Basically I have not been "up to date" with Sim Racing since about 2002 and have never played an EA F1 sim, only Grand Prix series. However soon may have a new PC and want an online F1 game..... like you said, sony has the liscence, so no 'official' F1 games for xbox either :( .

Yes there is a 'mirror' mod for Race Driver 2, however that is only the PC version, not the xbox version.(I don't think the PS2 version has mirrors either?)
