You have two options left:
1. You can try to recover your disc by using "CD Recovery Toolbox Free". That program helped me to recover files from a damaged CD and it worked in my case.
2. If your disc is badly scratched, try SkipDr or similar.
Natively, it is very difficult to get GP2 to run stable under Win XP. On a slow computer, it should work fine with VDMS, but otherwise DOSBox is preferred. There is also a tool called "VelocidadeXP-1" for GP2, but I have no experience of if it can help GP2 running stable under native Win XP.
