Hi guys,

My friend is selling an iMac G5 for £20. It has a broken power supply and a wiped but working hard drive. Do you think I should buy it? It's got a PowerPC processor, and it's got a 17inch screen.

Also, if I do buy it, how much would it (roughly) cost to get a new working power supply, providing nothing else is broken? He says if the motherboard or anything else is broken, I can either get a £10 refund and keep the Mac or give the Mac back and get the full £20 back.

Do you think it's worth the investment?

Thanks,

Philip

He has 3 and he's had them for 3-5 months. He got them from his work experience for 5 quid each, so I'm doing him a favour really :)

You'd have to get it fixed, as they're all broken if different ways. The one I'm getting has a broken Power Supply, another one has a broken motherboard/logicboard, and the third one (with iSight) has a cracked screen, broken motherboard/logicboard, and a broken hard drive, plus a smashed but fixable case.

A friend of mine runs a Mac repair company so that's not too much of an issue. They're always handy as servers.

Ah. Well, if you want to buy an extra one, PM me :) Only 3 though, I'm getting one, my friend might get one. So technically only 1 left. First come first served.
