I'm running the BUPA Great North Run, which is a local half-marathon in which 50000 people annually compete.

I'm running for the Alzheimer's Research Trust, which is the leading research charity for Alzheimer's disease.

It was a costly set up for a tacky joke but at least I'm not the one who has to run the half marathon! Best of luck to you.

Thanks to everyone who gave, you're all unbelievably kind.

It went well, it took me 2 hours 40 which IS about as slow as Taki Inoue but it gives me something to beat next time... right? I wasn't knackered at the end so I know I can get it under two hours nextyear.

I made about £300, well over the £200 target so thanks again for all the help.

When are you going to run the other half?
