Copyright notice on websites

Hi guys,

My brother and I are building my dad a website and he'd like it so if someone rightclicks on the images on the site, they can't be copied or saved. I noticed on the Formula1.com website that if I rightclick on certain images, a new windows appear with a copyright notice. Now, I'm not asking how to do the copyright thing, but if anyone knows the code to reproduce this new window? Do you need a copyright thing to do this, or is php/html? (bear in mind I'm more on the graphics side myself, I'm only asking on here as I know all the advice I get is good!).

So, does anyone know how to do this?

PS. the website is www.mrof1engineering.co.uk ... but it's still heavily under construction! ;)

Thanks,

Philip

After the <HEAD> tag...

<script language="JavaScript">
// <!-- var popup="Sorry, right-click
is disabled.\n\nCopyrighted to my dad, motherfunky!"; function noway(go) { if
(document.all) { if (event.button == 2) { alert(popup); return false; } } if (document.layers)
{ if (go.which == 3) { alert(popup); return false; } } } if (document.layers)
{ document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN); } document.onmousedown=noway; // -->
</script>

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Well, I don't know if that is the same script of formula1.com, but I can download images from that site even if right click is denied, with Firefox

Thanks guys! My brother will build this into the website!

If there's any better solutions, as the no rightclick site does say its not foolproof, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! :)

I don't think you'll find anything better that that solution. As with anything, if someone wants something badly enough they'll find a way around it, but it will go a long way towards cutting out the generic cut n pastage.

Aren't the 'no right click' scripts pointless with all the screen capture software floating around?

Like I said... if someone wants it badly enough, and without due permissions etc.. then they'd find a way.

I have another thing to add. Write a very clear and concise disclaimer, stating the terms and conditions of using the website and absolving yourself of responsibility should a visitor disregard them.
