Think twice about displaying tattoos in the workplace.

The increasing popularity of body art is providing challenges for employers in every industry and profession.
A recent US poll reported that 36 per cent of 18-25-year-olds and 40 per cent of 26-40-year-olds have at least one tattoo.
In those same age groups, 30 per cent and 22 per cent, respectively, have a piercing somewhere other than their ears. The same survey found that, even in the 40-60-year age group, more than 10 per cent had tattoos or piercings in places other than their ears. University of Queensland anthropologist Dr Mair Underwood says there's no recent research on the prevalence of body art in Australia but the figures are likely to be similar to those in the US.
"The National Drug Strategy household survey in 1998 found about 10 per cent of the total population in Australia had tattoos and that was more than 10 years ago," Underwood says.
"That would be really conservative by today's standards and it's not just young people who have them either.
"Tattooists estimate one-third of their clientele is over 50 years of age these days."
Body art has gone mainstream.

Just how many of us here have bodyart? I myself have a lot of tattoos and piercings, although if you passed me in the street you would never guess. ;-)

I don't have any as I'm a work of art already.
Like you don't go to a van Gogh and add a jetfighter ;)

I like watching certain tattoos though.
Most of my friends have them (some almost filled from head to toe) and some are really a work of art.
Don't care too much for tribes and chinese/japanese/latin (or whatever) quotes though.
I do like tattoos with stories, even when they are not so pretty

I remember a story about a girl who had some eastern characters tattooed somewhere and she thought they were some deep and meaningful existential whatever but it was actually Beef and Blackbean Sauce or something like that. :-)

Okay, so I don’t have any and never will. I always told associates that I was collecting scars instead. I have many scars, mostly from motor cycle racing some from bicycle racing. However, my loved one has 17 and I have to say, they look good, employers can see them.

No piercings, no tattoos. Seems kind of pointless to me.
