iPad

So, who isn't getting one?

I'll get one when someone can actually come up with a reason to buy one.

I can understand the Macs. I can see the attraction to the iPod. Likewise the iPhone. But I've no idea what this is actually for.

It retains the negative aspects of the iPhone - no multitasking, no Flash (not saying Flash is good mind - it's horrible), reflective screen, low processing power... while having all the negative aspects of a laptop - it's big (it's nearly the size of A4 paper!), it's no more portable than an MacBook Air or other slimline laptop or netbook, it has no phone or camera, it's bloody expensive.

Added to that, it's hopeless for ebooks as it doesn't use electronic paper, so outdoors it will have horrible glare, just like most reflective phones and laptops.

It will fly off the shelves initially (just because it's 'cool', but I still cannot see what it's actually for. At the launch not even Steve Jobs could come up with a genuine reason to have one.

There will be a few apps which come out for it which will be truly useful, but I can't think of anything which won't be a niche application.

It's an iPhone. That's too big for your pocket. And can't phone.

If someone gave me one for free, I'd probably keep it and make use of it at home, but I can't imagine myself ever purchasing one. I just don't get the hype with this one at all. Even all the other Apple products that I don't like I kinda 'get', but with this I just don't.

I pretty much agree with Dave here. If I happen to win one, I'll have a play with it for a while, then I'll sell it.

I'm much more interested in the iPhone 4G hopefully coming out in the next couple of months.

Apple have called a press event for this Thursday, expected to be revealing the 4G.

Well iPhone OS 4 has been reavealed, multitasking is included but only for the 3GS and iPad.

No news on the next gen iPhone be it 4G, HD or whatever. Don't know if we can expect news anytime soon.

the iPad is an iPod touch for people with fat fingers or seeing problems.

Furthering on from yesterday's conference on iPhone OS 4, there's now a rumour that Apple will make announcement regarding the next gen iPhone itself tonight, be it the 4G, HD, miniPad or whatever.

I'm preparing myself to be disappointed however and will not expect any news until late June at the earliest.

I'm putting money on a 5mp camera, and actually can't think of anything else. I reckon the final spec of whatever it will be will be unveiled at WWDC in June.
