Quick question: what are people's thoughts on the best anti-virus program for Windows 7? Or what to avoid? And why?

Avoid Norton, because it's Norton. Same as McAfee.

Best free one by a country mile is the recently released Microsoft Security Essentials.

Up until a few days ago, I'd have said avoid NOD32 on "fast computers" until they've sorted out the bug which stops you saving things in certain folders, but it seems they've just released an update (4.0.474.0) which fixes it. :)

The other best commercial AV is Kaspersky, which you can get for free if you bank online with Barclays.

AVG has steadily been getting worse for years. It finally pished me off the other week when it kept on minimising my applications every 15 minutes or so for no apparent reason. So I uninstalled it, and my computer is running quicker than it has in months.

yep, nod32 here, lightweight and gets everything, don't forget to run malwarebytes once in a while too.

*Bump*

Has anyone else had problems buying an ESET AV 2 year licence? I only have a week left on my trial so need to purchase a licence but when I put my post code in and select my street address, it just loads the street address box up again :/

I have tried it in Firefox and IE8 but no luck. So atm It's stoping me from buying anything!

Edit:// Sorted it now :) I just clicked on "address is not listed" and put the info in myself.
