Well it was a great day, perfect weather and what a love it is to drive these things! So much fun!
We did 20mins behind the pacecar then 20mins without.

Heres a 10min highlight clip (due to youtube 10min rule) of my 20min session.
Yes I went off but tbh its all part of pushing these cars to the max!

After that incident, I had to drive fast but carefully, as if you spin 2 times, they stop you from taking part. I even set my fastest laptime after that spin.

DVD was £40!! They know people will pay that crazy money for it lolz.

Awesome mate, looked so much fun!

How much was the experience, do you need to have a drivers license to do that?

Yeh it was very fun, i really recommend it!

Silverstone charge £169 for it, then optional £10cover incase you cant drive due to bad weather, also another optional £10 for up to £1500 car cover (incase you crash it or something)

Though like I did, look on ebay for someone else who is selling theres, the name is transferrable so its sometimes cheaper to get it off ebay.

there's something perversely interesting about watching amateurs throw these things around particularly knowing when there's an imminent off ;) superb stuff though mate, that's really impressive.

PS for the incident-hunters, the off is around 5mins in haha

You're not wearing gloves! :O

IMHO that's an awful lot of money just to go and parade something round blithely without actually being able to race. I know there's no way Silverstone could seriously let complete novices race those things, but to be honest, Silverstone or not, I'd rather spend my money on a big karting trip.

Great stuff DJ :D

Maybe we should do this instead of the GPG karting event ;)

I'd turn up if we'd do this :P

Yehh i thought they would provide gloves, but i see i was wrong :S

Yeh its alot of money, but decent outdoor karting is £45+, so for £169 its not too bad imo ;)

Awesome chet, is yours the same experience at silverstone too?

haha Nick, would be awesome, i so want another go when i get some more money! :D

Yup, 20mins behind pace car, then 20mins on track. Only passing on straights?

Just need to wait for uni timetable really!

What's it like compared to driving a kart?

Wicked, yeh only meant to pass on the straights but i made a cheeky dive into turn 2 (where i went off) to overtake someone once ;)

Much different to a Kart imo, with karts you can easily make the thing dance around but this has so much more grip so its farely stuck to the track unless carrying too much speed into the corner!

At the start of my vid you see I lose the backend and had to counter-steer into that very turn2, quite easy to do there, i did it a few times because you always want to carry more speed! But everywhere else its farely straightforward!

Chet, you should check out the BUKC. Cov have a few teams entered i think.

I have done a few single seater days, that one looks quite good as you get a fair crack at it. But it is ruddy pricey. I'd sooner do a day or half a day's test in a Formula Vee or something. Dunno if you need a National B just for testing mind....?

Great vid, very action packed!

It has been quite a regret that I havent! And if im honest its down to shear lazyness!

This year I promised myself I would join, hopefully will more money than last year and its my last chance at cheap karting! Not something to put down easily!

I take you compete then?

Hey DJ your drive was good, and your driving pretty well though. just be more cautios wearing proper safety equipment when driving (like wearing gloves) because motorsport is always dangerous and you'll never know this is your last breath to drive.

Chet, fear not. The karts are supplied by 'Club100', who run thier own series. I am infact racing with them at Llandow in South Wales this coming weekend.

And it depends on what you class as cheap, a season costs about £1500. Which, when had up against buying, storing, repairing and maintaining your own kart, isnt bad at all....
