This is true, i cant access many sites like facebook and many other sites take ages to load whilst others dont load at all.

However, i can access facebook instantly through a proxy, this suggests that just our uk IP's are prevented from accessing facebook????

Whats going on?

DNS problem seems to be the likely cause. Go check Cable Forum and see what issues are being raised there in your area. :)

You really think Virgin Media are competent enough to take part in a conspiracy? They'd somehow manage to screw it up.

Oh noes! No facebook? I really do wish that would happen. The world would well and truly be a better place.

Almost certainly just a routeing issue - the ISP i used to work for had problems like this every now and then.

Most ISPs have their own peering arrangements between their networks and others, which results in different routes into the US. If they lost a peering link, you'd probably find that a proxy works because the route is different.

No, it suggests you don't understand how a proxy works, lol.

It's a Virgin issue connecting to US sites. Nothing more.
