I once had a ping of 23,400 or somwhere very close to that, when I saw that I went all "German kid playing unreal tournament".

My results in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Just to note, this is the fastest internet I've come across in SA by a country mile.

Now you know why they call it dark Africa :P

Basically means the time it takes your request over the internet to be processed, meaning the round trip of the info sent and a reply back again to you acknowledging the request. If that even makes sense.

k then, here's mine:

Harjinator - didn't even see the latency, but having seen it now i'd put money on that being someone else on the connection spanking the internet.

Cheers for the responses guys. The internet actually died completely a few mins after my post, so i went downstairs and pulled the plug out. after plugging it back in, it's been a lot faster - i'm guessing whoever was bandwidth hogging has either stopped, or their torrent hasn't managed to get the speed back!

Have also discovered this isp appears to throttle iplayer... is there any way around it?

that's more like it!
