In 2001 or 2003 when he retired from the Indy GP and came walking back to the pits, he was staring straight at me for quite a while! I only then decided to take a photo of him after he had passed by so I completely lost the dramatic effect :P.

Nickv is embarrassed of this....

The fact that you can get to that picture so fast every time worries me. Do you have it on your harddrive or something? :S

Oh, I almost forgot: FU ho! :P

in terms of motorsport, my highlight was at last year's australian gp getting autographs of the majority of drivers and also some test drivers, former drivers (jackie stewart was a nice one to get) team bosses, engineers, family members (got mr. hamilton, mr. button was there, but only signed one thing) etc. it was fantastic to get so close to many of the drivers and f1 people, and my program filled with autographs is a priceless piece of memorabilia from the event!

i've also got to meet quite a lot of the v8 supercar drivers over the years, which is also a nice experience as it is much easier to have a chat with them in the paddock after the race.

more generally, i've seen a few australian 'celebrities' (such as tv personalities) on planes, in shops etc. but nothing too exciting on this front.

Impressive list LS.

F1-wise, I've met Derek Warwick, at Knockhill in 1999(he was there as the Triple Eight team boss) and Gianni Morbidelli, at the same place a year earlier(hardly even worth mentioning though, the guy was just plain unfriendly).
So my list so far, by comparison, is pretty meh. To be generous.

By the way, I take it that's Nick with the braces above? How tall is he?!

Well, Albers is about 5'6 or so ... Nick must be 6' (1.83m), or 6'9 if you count the hair ;)

I think we need a clarrification of the rules.....

Standing near someone isn't meeting them now is it? c'mon......

We need actual dialog between you and said celeb (be it on a Hello) or some form of physical contact, such as a handshake.

My list from page 1 certainly meets these criteria.

But hey, i aint the quiz-master here. Its up to Danm.

Well, it looks like Albers has his hand up Nick's arse, enough physical contact there? ;)

You can't really blame an Italian on an almost permanently wet/damp/cold hill with its own micro-climate in Scotland for not wanting to be there. :P

To clarify all the mysteries around my person:

I am the F1 driver.
I do no longer have braces (that picture is from 2005, I look far more handsome and have a different haircut now)
I am 1.84m. I'm from Holland, our stuff makes you high, y'know.
Albers' hand was not up my arse. Not at that moment anyway.

I am on FM 2007! However some loser created a Bebo account with some of my details and used a bad translator to write some horrible things about myself...

Nick Joshua, why must you write in such way that makes it look like you lost your humor when Albers lost his F1 seat? ;)

Just the other day I met David Carradine in a hotel in Bangkog. He was VERY depressed about the untidy closet in his room. I cheered him up and told him to hang in there. Looks like he really was at the end of his rope.

if we add 'encounters' Mika Hakkinen drove over my left toes at Spa, accompanied by a slimmer hey-day Norbert Haug in a Merc on tour to the pit garages. He stopped and asked directions to a fan LOL and turned too sharply, too soon. Had my dad not pulled me back I would probably have come off worse.

Other encounters, and this is weird to get across and in context, but I shared a plane trip and lift ride at miami airport with a 911 terrorist and mohammed atta.

in short, my mum sat next to the sidekick guy for 10 hours and chatted away about flying lessons and sand sculptures. When he reached the airport, we thought nothing of it.

then one week later, 911 happened, and days after, a front page of 8 bombers filled the newspapers. both my mum and i freaked as we noticed the same shaved headed glass wearing man who sat next to her, and weirder yet, when we got out the airport, this guy was greeted by a more arabic looking guy. they were quite rude, and pushed in front of us to use a lift, despite my family having a wheelchair, they barged us. i remember muttering something obvious like 'lazy @#$%&', to the intention of them hearing.

we ended up sharing with them, and they were very shifty and quiet. the shaved guy smiled and said bye to my mum, and that was it.

rest is history i guess!

and when two of their mugshots appeared on the cover, was kinda a bit surreal. better yet, mum had some video footage of my bro inside the plane pre-take-off, and it just so happened to capture a snippet of the shaved headed guy talking in non-english to a random african next to him. this confirmed our initial WTF, and then mum recalled all the weird things during the plane trip , things like him liking my bros mock flying jacket, how he had been taking lessons, how he lived in boccoratton miami but never saw sand sculptures etc. Things didnt add up, oh and he shook the african mans hand at the end of the trip and said something non-english, and smiled.

Weird how you remember things after they happen and you see things beyond what was otherwise face value plain and boring.
