Cadburys Dairy Milk Advert

for those who havent seen it yet

Saw it at the cinema the other night. It's simply disturbing...

Cadburys advertising is awful.

That is one of the most crappy adverts I have ever seen in my life, along with the Phil Collins/Gorilla ad. That 'bring on the trumpets' advert blows as well.

That ad's been on for ages. It rocks. Not because I like it, but because like the Gorilla one, it's gone viral.

Whoa!!! Just noticed something I've never sen on that before, but is that Josef Fritzl with the light metre at the begining?!

Have you ever even seen Josef Fritzl?

That's got to be the one of the worst ads ever :/

Well I also thought it looked a little like Walter Matthau but he passed away a few years ago. Oh and I have a bit of a sick mind !! lol

the one that annoyed me most from Cadburys was the stupid "runway at night vehicle race" thingy, with Queen's Don't Stop Me Now playing over it, completely and utterly pointless.

the advert is crap but it grows on u :P i prefer the socceram version of that advert tho

People are still missing the point with this ad though. A crap ad is NOT an ad that gets its own thread on a motor-racing simulation forum.

not really. i don't think many people buy Dairy Milk on the strength of the advert, they either like that chocolate and will buy it anyway, or they don't.

us all saying that a particular ad is crap, and making a thread about it, doesn't shift more units, which is the ultimate goal for them with their advertisements. sure we're all discussing the ads (generating publicity for the product), but how many of us who say the ads are crap are actually buying the chocolate? i'm not, cos i think the ads are crap plus i don't like Dairy Milk, and even if i thought the ad was good, i wouldn't buy it.

The fact that it gets attention doesn't mean people start buying Cadburys though.

Interestingly, the gorilla ad won loads of awards, but evidence suggested that the sales of Dairy Milk didn't go up at all.

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

Well I think it's improved the perception of Cadbury's in general. To be honest, the perception here of the ad is surprising, since most people I know are very taken with it. All of this discussion is heightening awareness of Cadbury's, and I really don't think that's a bad thing. Besides who buys the most chocolate? Kids do. And kids really enjoy these ads.

in response to Red Sam, exactly, so these days they just do artsy fartsy adverts to win awards and peer recognition within their field, but if they somehow accidentally manage to sell more of their product, it's a welcomed side-effect.
