if i was doing it, i would leave the forum links the same, with the newest threads below it, and then maybe work on the rest of the page somehow

I think it's fine as it is. Everything you want to know is there, yet it's very clean. There is no need to change it IMO.

Maybe mix the colours up a bit, the layout is currently fine I reckon

IMHO everything is nice and tidy, maybe the font colors so that they are not too similar to the background colors.

Dont chuck an FIA and ruin everything, thats all I can say!
