hah well that just shows it, hit a sore point have i?

Business or politics are merely examples that that definition gives, if you bother to read. The phrase "as in" is to imply examples. It is not limited to this. Also (although you have not stated this) it is not limited to family members (obviously) but also friends and suchlike.

Quite why I am debating a petty meaning of a word with you I do not know but I will not be spoken down to like that.

This has been debated endlessly. No matter how many times petty jealous people cry out, the fact of the matter is, that respect around here is earned by service to the community. I don't want to state my efforts and accomplishments here, but suffice to say there is at least something worth noting. That is how a meritocracy works. If you have a problem with it, why don't you do something too?

It's a democratic meritocracy, with a sprinkling of cronyism, and a dash of oligarchical gerontocracy. Try saying that after a few beers. :-)

That's not a haiku either
it just would not fit,
far too many syllables.

That's a rather aggressive tone you have there.
In terms of petty jealousy, there is none. I could not care less about my position here, however I find it rather disgraceful that apparent moderators (ex or otherwise) take it upon themselves to try and wind up a member in order to get him banned. You constantly take cheap shots at him and for one second have you even thought how must it feel for him to have the whole forum against him?
Then, when he brings up a valid point about inconsistency (you having slated him unjustifiably for something - if you don't like his topics then just ignore them) as others do the exactly the same.

All I request is fairness. However when the moderating team has an obvious personal dispute with you and takes it on themselves to make you look a fool at every occasion I would suggest, Red Five, that you are fighting a losing battle of which there is no point continuing. Life is not fair but so be it.
