1. I could care less.

YOU MEAN YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS.

2. See 1.

You could have gone to say "war on terror", "terrorists", "the American people", "God Bless America", and the American anthem that is played in EVERY sporting occasion (be it 5 year old kids or retired old men).

smart alec, it refers to the fact that if you're retired, you're probably old.

You clearly don't understand what an oxymoron is then.

An oxymoron (plural oxymorons or, more rarely, oxymora) is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms.

For example, bitter sweet. The terms 'retired' and 'old' are not contradictory, and therefore, cannot be an oxymoron.

#1 - Use of the word already.
Like in 'Stop that already!' or 'let's go already'
It sounds awful, makes bugger all sense, and really p***es me off!

'to take a rain cheque' (sp?)

What on earth...?

'Soccer mOms'

Are they the mothers of all soccer...or mothers who play it...do they have heads in the shape and colours of a football ?

'peace out'

So you want to get rid of peace....did you mean pass out but are too high to say it ?

The OP's #1 is still by far the most irritating I just don't understand how they don't see what's wrong with the saying ;)

Oh and on cycling forums it seems people use 'peddles' to move the bike and 'breaks' to stop it, I'm not a spelling Nazi but it just seems to be a rule rather than the exception :)

lol funny thread.

Cant think of many at the moment, but the your and you're one is something quite alot of people get wrong. Ive sometimes used your when meaning to use you're but only on a place like this whether the bother is less so.

probably like Gui, I get annoyed when they thank God/Jesus for pretty much everything they do.

And anyone who watched the elections would have seen a clip of that woman, a McCain supporter saying Obama is a baby killer?? Things like that.

Statements that end with an upward inflection ( are you telling me or asking me???)

LS's Tip of the week

I also don't like "let's see if we can't ...." where the blank is something they're trying to do, or would like to achieve. Sort it out people

Or people that say "you know." Actually I don't, you're telling the story, how would I know?

1. I could care less (agree with Zcott, is it not obvious how grammatically wrong that statement is???)

2. Aluminum (despite every other similar element ending with the standard suffix -ium, after it was mis-spelled in the American Scientific Journal and not corrected for 2 years)

3. 'literally' (e.g. "I literally just died". ... No you didn't!)

4. Anything containing the suffix -ize (Legitimize, contemporize ... it doesn't automatically become a verb, you morons)

5. Baseball World Series (remind me which countries take part again? Oh yeah, just America)

6. Fawcet (is 'tap' really so hard?)

7. African-American (generic term to refer to anyone who isn't white or from Mexico. Lewis Hamilton is an African-American. White people can't be African-Americans)

8. 'Hood (i.e. "Welcome to the 'hood." "This is my 'hood." Shut up)

9. Terrorists (A complete perversion of the word, definition and concept)

10. Are you kidding? (Are you stupid?)
