So try it without the video drive and put the media drive in its place. If the same problems persist, you have your answer.

To be honest I normally use a custom built Windows PE disk. Best of both worlds. Still got a couple of Linux CDs in my armoury, though I've never used them for anything other than editing partitions so far.
