Well the Demo wanted me to cut my ears off since the cars sounded so disgusting. The WTCC BMW has a 6 Speed box in it, despite the real car being a 5 speed H-Pattern box, as any self-respecting motorsport fan should know. And the Audi R10 Diesel Le Mans car not only sounds like a Corvette, it does 260mph. Given the circuits are double the width of real life (I kid you not), the cars corner at over double the speed they can do in real life (again, I kid you not), and the HDR effects are enough to make even bats say "thats enough for me thanks", it's pretty safe to say the game is complete garbage.
For more hilarity on the latest cash in from Codemasters you could just download the Demo, which has been released for the PC, and on xBox Live. Knowing my PC won't be able to run the Demo because it doesn't have 6 8800GTs and 16 CPUs to process the horrible disease that is HDR effects, I went for the XBL download to try it for myself. I found it quite hilarious at first, and then depressing later. You are treated like a moron throughout the game (looking back on it, perhaps that is the target audience anyway), by the menus which assume you can't navigate things correctly, and by your pit crew, who spend the entire race (all 3 laps of it) talking to you like you are a 5 year old who has never sat in a car before, nevermind was lining up on the World Touring Car Championship grid, ready for a Championship event.
Codemasters have put the emphasis on crashing. The cars handle like crap. They sound like crap. The circuits look like crap. The AI drives like crap. But the crash physics are lovely with cool glass effects and semi-realistic roll-overs. But if you want crashes, buy Flatout, not GRiD. If you want a full review, check out
this one from VirtualR.
