i get your point, i had the feeling you wanted to wanted to say the world would be worse without religion and i think that would be hard to verify ( there is no proof that it would be better too)
that the world would be different is obvious

well i assumed that the "uninformed" person signalises interest in learning something about that religion first. informing without being asked to do that would go into the second category.

my comment was aimed more at the fact he was asking us to read about his religion, and become more tolerant, and then goes on to insult the views of others

fwiw i couldnt care less about religion, but do not expect others to share that view, and nor should they. if people want to beleive in some higher being then thats their choice and one which i fully understand and wish them luck with. if it makes you happier in life then good luck.

but as a person i'm naturally inquistive, like to know how things work or are done, and am driven by science, maths and numbers, and therefore do not beleive in a god

this does howveer mean that i firmly beleive in teh beginning there was nothing, which exploded and created the universe ;)

Then you should become a Buddhist. That is a religion without a god.

Jawwad, at least here in GPG you'll find most of us don't judge others based on their religious belief, we're all equal and share the common interest for either F1 or racing games and that's what matters, how people are and not what their religion is :).

And how Chet came to be no one knows, a theory says that Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton came together and a Chet was born out of an explosion ;)

i 100% agree ith this ^^

believe in what you want, pray to whomever you want, but don't try to persuade others to believe the same as you. and even more importanly IMO, do not look down at those who don't believe in what you believe in.

there are many religions, so let's face it, they can't all be correct. so there has to be some give and take and undertsanding from all religious people, that people are not sinners simply because they believe in a different religion to yours, or don't believe in God at all.

And yet the world is in a war over it. Ironic isn't it? I don't actually believe that the whole infidel thing is the reason that they blow stuff up left right and centre. Apart from a financial point of view I can't see the point of it at all tbh.

Where is your proof that there is anything more to life than money, having a good time and populating the planet?

I prefer a simple life without worrying about a religious aspect of it. Been there done it and I prefer my life as it is now I have no restrictions apart from those I impose on myself and I feel much better for it.

I see no reason to delude myself with the possibility of an after life or whatever, I would much rather live for now, enjoy my life however long or short it may be and if there is somet else? Cool, I'll roll with that and enjoy the hell out of that too.

You're only here for 75 years, might as well make the most of it since in the grand scheme of things 75 years is absolutely nothing and worrying about little things seems almost short sighted to me.

I intend no offence if I come across a bit blunt.

I don't think that there is a 'right' religion, whose holy book contains the all the secrets and reasons for our universe.
However, I do believe that religion has its benefits.
Books like the Bible and Qu'uran provided an explanation for our existence that satisfied the rather more 'primitive' minds of our ancestors.
However, importantly for me the Bible contains many important messages within it. Not stories that are to be taken literally, of course, but whose messages should, I think, be reflected in the behaviour of British citizens towards their peers.
It can't be a coincidence that while religion has vastly declined in this country, our society has for the most part fallen by the wayside in terms of moral standards.
I genuinely feel like crying when I hear some stories about what happens in this country, like this.
I do think that if all of these little turds who roam the streets of Britain at night had been taught some morals from a young age, by parents who weren't totally feckless (that's if they know who they are), then we wouldn't have all of this happening now.
Would this kind of thing have happened 50 years ago?
Would it happen in other countries where religion still prevails?

@ zeppelin101, yes, I agree, life is short and should be lived with a smile on our faces and to the maximum, but the problem is that there are some people also think 'and screw how it affects other people or what the consequences of my actions are'

100% agree and let me add that there are the same problems here in germany too

Absolutely. But let's be clear, it has to work both ways. People who don't believe mustn't look down upon people who do believe, something which is often conveniently forgotten by many.

> there are many religions, so let's face it, they

What understanding of sin does that come from? Take the Christian view of sinners, for example, where "all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Belief is irrelevant to whether you are a sinner or not, although I can see why people get the idea that only non-believers are sinners.

You're also right to say not all religions can be correct - but that's the problem, isn't it? Whilst they can't all be correct, maybe one of them is.
