Quite shocking imho, not that it [state of the environment/ecosystems/earth] wasn't bad enough before we found this...well done humans.
I wonder what (other) backlashes mother earth has in store for us.

Don't get why everyone is making a fuss over this being "discovered" now. It's been there longer than most of us have been alive, and in mainstream coverage the British TV Comedy Quiz show QI touched on it too.

Dunno about the fuss over this in britain...just stumbled upon via a german blog...nothing in the "mainstream" media yet, as far as i'm aware of. Though you're right dave, took a while to discover and publish this "news" (considering it was discovered by accident in '97).
