if you are good during your punishment, that is nothing, it doesnt take away the fact you did wrong in the first place.
being good during a punishment is just a nice indication you are aware you were wrong and should be doing good all the time.

the behaviour during punishment should have no effect whatsoever on the length of punishment, IMO. she was given 45 days for driving while banned, so how does being good in prison equate to a reduction of her imprisonment? does cutting her sentence in half mean she only half drove while banned?
if i was caught driving 4x over the legal alcohol limit, and then was good in prison, should my sentence be cut in half? would it mean i was only 2x over the limit? it doesn't make any sense does it?
and every prisoner, especially one like her who has such a privileged life, would know it's in their interest to be as good as possible in the hope the sentence is reduced. it doesn't necessarily mean they have learnt anything, it only shows they know how to play the system to get out quicker.

Its known for sentances to get reduced if a prisoners conduct has been consistantly good.

yes but my argument is that their behaviour in prison shouldn't have any impact on their sentence. does being good mean they have committed less of a crime? when the judge gives out a sentence, s/he feels the sentence is equal to the crime committed. so if later the sentence is reduced, does it mean the crime has been lessened or reduced? does the pain/grief to the victim or their relatives reduce, because the criminal was behaving well in prison?
good behaviour in prison should lead to benefits in prison, such as an extra sausage or slice of bacon in their meal, or an extra 10 minutes of tv-watching time, something tangible like that, which motivates them to behave well while they're actually in prison. it shouldn't lead to a reduction in the sentence though.

Muks you are correct, but i guess that really is on valid with a real crime rather than understanding the word 'banned'.
Even with 3weeks the lesson im sure would have been learned, to read :p

I still maintain that prison should ONLY be used to protect the public from potentially dangerous people, and in that respect maybe Paris shouldn't be sentenced to jail at all.
What really hacks me off is that she isn't trying to pick a more favourable sentence, she's simply trying to get out of it completely and absolve herself of any responsibility. If ANYONE did that it would be pretty low. You've made a mistake, sweetheart, now take it like an adult and deal with the consequences. Don't try and dodge your responsibility, because THAT is what makes you pathetic.

Prison won't do any good as it doesn't do any good to anyone, and a fine is pointless for someone like her. the only thing that can make her feel uncomfortable and that can act as a deterrent for the future is making her do something she hates doing or has never done before, like picking litter up from a public park or streets, or washing windows or cleaning graffitti off walls etc.
