Bit defender... it kicks ass.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

what's the best firewall in terms of resource usage? i've tended to use Zonealarm, which does the job, but doesn't half slow down boot ups...

Sunbelt Kerio. Free, although you get a 30 day trial of the paid for Pro version. You don't really lose much functionality though and even then the licence only cost me about £11. Its $19.95 which is £10.09 at the moment. Worth it easily.

ROFL! @#$%& you're a cheapskate. Perhaps you could sell your CPU to pay for it?

yeh i dont see any point in paying for it when i've been running my comp over a year with no problems.

if there's a free program then it's well worth it.

Well its your money and your PC but don't expect any sympathy if you get a nasty virus or something. If you want a free AV then look at Avast/AVG/Antivir. I'd seriously reconsider your stance on Nod32. Its brilliant and perhaps only Kaspersky is comparable in the market.

I initially paid for a 1 year licence for Nod32 but then when that came up for renewal I went for a 3 year licence.

You should like it. Its very silent/in the background I find. I don't even have to set it up after I install. It just runs itself for me.
