i have some data backed up onto my seagate external hard drive and i have windows xp professional, there are some files i want to copy over to my other pc that has xp home edition.

in XP pro i go to start/allprograms/accessories/systemtools/backup and i can then choose wether to backup or restore data.

With the XP Home edition i dont have that option in the systemtools options, i have copied the data across manually to my other system with xp home on it but it remains encrypted.

Is there a way to un-encrypt this or i am screwed?

i realise that theres going to be differences in home and proffesional editions, maybe this is one of them

ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat

Sadly the home edition doesn't support encryption. Unless you can find a tool that will do the job, you're only option might be to upgrade your home edition PC to professional. Any XP professional CD can do this.

Isn't the backup utility on the XP CD in an extras folder or something?
