Probably not. I believe most standard albums/CD's/Songs "compress" all vocals, instruments etc that would be recorded in seperate channels, into one big clump to prevent people extracting the drums from a song, for example and using them for something else.

But you'd need programs like Cakewalk, Protools, Sound Forge I think.

It's been donkies since I messed with music like that.

I may be wrong though.

Chet. You're not posting karaoke, and none of us are going to assist you in it.

//edit: Oh. Never mind. It's early and I'm stuck at home getting nervous of the big scary white bits outside coming to attack me.

I'll just go quietly.

There are some programs that allegedly blot out vocals (by wiping out most of the mid-range), but these are generally rubbish. However, unless you have a MIDI file, i doubt you can remove instruments.

aren't midi files like boop bop booop boooop bop booop?

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Despicable.

Compression is a completely different thing my friend. The reason we can't seperate out all the parts isn't because music producers are evil, it's because a CD is a stereo recording (once mixed and mastered etc.) so it only has two channels of audio: left and right. So the only true way to get rid of vocals is ask the record company very very nicely for an instrumental version. ;)
Haha, hmm :(

Anyway thankyou.

I was wondering because i listened to a song, one of those v's songs, ie 2 different songs, and it had the vocals from a favourite track of mine, just not the music..

Not really helpful, but I have a few studio "raw" stuff from Songs For The Deaf (Queens of the Stoneage). They are the pure drum tracks (Dave Grohl's <33333). So you can only hear his drums - but I have a couple where you can vaguely hear Josh Homme "humming" for his backing vocals.

Muy cool.

nah, Chet likes FlyMcBusted, so i doubt he'd want any Foo tracks ;)

I loved Busted. I was contacted to be in the 'You Said No' video, ironically and literally I had to say no because I was at school. Lol, Not even joking, I guess the best pun for that is 'It's what I go to School For'.

Danm was correct. Nah, some of them aren't too bad nowadays, as long as a decent synth is used.
