the americans forget about the part where you have to fall down and grab your ankle when someone is within 5 metres of you.

NFL is awesome...

I'm a Welshman - i was born with a rugby ball - American Football was a natural progression for me - i play American Football for Cardiff University -

And i love it!! Its a lot tougher than rugby - i played that for about 10 years of my life...and the biggest competitive kicking i have ever taken was 'going over the middle' - munched...

Currently play defensive end and center for my team ....so both sides of the ball - I can't wait for the Wembley game!

Guys you should give it a try before you diss it - a lot of things are similar - and a lot are not...

I love it, i love rugby too ... 'tis great

lmao american football is so shite its unreal.

1) They use their hands more than their feet yet call it footbal....how??!!

2) last year I stayed up to watch "mega bowl" and within 10 seconds there was a stoppage and adverts, repeat this for how ever long a game goes on for n its pure bordam (spelling?)

It's the Superbowl, not the Mega bowl. I'm definitely going to try and make the game, but there's a possibility it could be at Twickenham rather than Wembley, still. I'd love it to be a Dolphins game. That'd be awesome. It's a shame the Patriots don't seem interested.

i still dont get they did prefeer to host a game in London and not in Canada... but thats other stuff

i think it might be cool for english people to have the opportunity to watch a live game but duno why i feel like it wont be to "concluding", europeans will prefeer to keep their Football and wont have so much interest in American Football

can be cool to know your predictions (the guys that likes NFL here)

2moro (sunday) the games are

New Orleans Saints vs Chicago Bears
New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts

id say Superbowl final will be Saints vs Patriots... but duno who i will support if its the case, i like Football but i dont really fallow NFL as i do with NHL (hockey) so lets say i dont have any favourite team and i like those 2... but might be good to see Saints winning because of what happened to New Orleans last year...

so... THE SAINTS ARE COMING :D

Patriots win every year ;) Not technically accurate I know, but it's like a non-F1 fan saying Schumacher wins every year.

According to the NFL commissioner:

Mark Waller: We eliminated Toronto because they are hosting the Grey Cup game there and we agreed with the CFL that we would not play there.

Though I'd love to see a Saints vs. Patriots Superbowl, I think it'll be Bears vs. Colts.

to the original question: no.

i tried to watch american football a few years ago, it justs seemed a lot of style over substance, all the fancy presenation and pre-game hype, then just 3 seconds of frantic running and crashing into each other, then it all stops again for 10 minutes of time-out and tactics talk, followed by another 3 seconds of action.

saying that, i did find rugby interesting when i last watched it, 2 world cups ago. i don't understand all the rules or anything, but it just seemed a more viewer-friendly sport to watch compared to the american version. and they didn't need to wear as much padding or helmets.

Aye, I am, beating a lot of NFL "experts" with my prediction. It was very close though! I'm reserving judgement on the 'Bowl for now. Need to make sure there aren't any late injuries. Our University's Union will be open especially late for the Superbowl :)

I can understand why some people don't like the stop-start nature of the game. Its basic premise is very simple, yet it can be an incredibly complex game and games are very long. I don't think it's a game that you can easily sit in the fence about, it's a bit like Marmite really!

Im from England and I love NFL! I got into it when in NY a few years ago, my dads a fan and told me all the rules, once i knew what was going on i really got into it you no? The NFL gets a bit of coverage over here especially leading up to the Super Bowl, normally a half a page or so in The Sun. I also love the NBA to tho, thats big with the kids in school but doesnt seem to get any coverage in the UK apart from late night Channel 5.
I will definately go and see whatever NFL game is played over here

I'm a huge fan of the NFL and american football in general... I typically play DB (and a bit of RB is I get the chance) for a new team here in Northants...

For all you out there who criticise the game for being so slow - it has to have breaks after each play as that's what allows the strategy to be developed.
However, the ridiculous number of advertising breaks do hurt the sport to a foreign market...

Even if you're not an NFL fan, I suggest you take this oppertunity to see some live NFL.... the speed at which the sport moves is unmatched by any other grass/turf based sport.

I love American football, have done since 1990, initially by getting John Madden Football on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive. That got me into understanding this complex, but magical sport, and then watching it on tv(CH4). I even played a little Brit Ball in the early 90's - half back and middle linebacker (yes, we had to go iron-man, back then ;-P). I've been an avid fan ever since.
My fave player/s? Jerry Rice and Barry Sanders. :)

Explaining why it takes 3 hours to play a 1 hour game, is an exercise in futility. The best way to learn, is to play a game of Madden on any system, or just watch a few games and slowly pick it up(if you have the patience). :)
