cheers for the suggestion Zaz.

@ Turkey_M, is there a fix for the res not being correct at startup? there's enough there for me to see everything if i go into a menu, but just for nitpicking's sake, can i get it to be the correct res from the very second it's switched on? i always noticed this at my sisters on her 15" tft, but then it went right as it loaded up.

also, as Gav said, there was no need to adjust the screen size or positioning, like you have to do for crt's. this might be the norm, but i'm new to these screens so it seems amazing to me that it automatically calibrates itself to fir perfectly without needing any manual adjustment.

Cheers Qwerty :)

Wasn't a question for me, but nope, the BIOS doesn't have drivers as such, and therefore can't know every bit of hardware. All BIOSes default to a very basic res (without checking, I think it's 640x480). As Windows loads the drivers the video drivers should set themselves to what they were told when you shut it down. That's normal. :)

It's HERE!!! Got my 2007WPF today. It looks amazing to sit in front of. I've got it hooked up via the DVI cables. Is there any tweaks or settings I need to check? Specifically what aspect ratio is the best to play DVDs with in VLC?

16:10 if it's available. Personally I just use 16:9 and have it letter-boxed a tiny bit.

Yeah, my widescreen is 16:9, so a bit of letter boxing, so if you can get 16 10, awesome.

Muks, I *believe* that if you use the DVI connector the screen should auto-adjust to the vga output (even at POST.). Im not 100% sure on this though, I could be wrong.

Is it Acer AL1916WS you have got?
I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying it to replace my 5 year old 19" CRT. I have heard that the AL1916WS should be quite good for the money. I would be able to get it for 210 euros(Google tells me it's about £140)

in case anyone was interested in my monitor, it's now been reduced to just £105 inc. VAT delivered (if you choose the super saver option, takes about a week), £15 cheaper than what i got it for 3 months ago.
