Are we liking this new James Bond?

I was so disappointed when it was announce that Daniel Craig was the new Bond. I was pulling for Clive Owen, but a month later after seeing the trailers and tv spots it looks pretty good. I don't think he is the most handsome guy in the role, but he may be the most rugged Bond in a while.

The only thing that bugs me is that it is technically a prequel (or a new start ala Batman Begins) and yet they still have Judie Drench in what I assume is the 'M' role still.

its transitional, im sure she will we slowly weened out as not to upset avid fans. its best to slowly merge the new with old - a direct cut of her would not only be confusuing, itll upset the key fans, which is a large factor they still make the movies!

I'll say it once more. WHY THE HELL DID THEY DUMP BROSNAN?!

I'll probably still watch it, but I enjoyed the PB Bonds more than any others. Total sarcasm :D

I'm now looking forward to seeing it :)

Hey Michael, you've re-surfaced again!!

i've never seen Daniel in a movie, and no he's not the most handsome guy, but i think he fits well, and i think a more rugged looking guy fits better with the character than a pretty boy. i hated the Brosnan movies, so am glad to see a more serious back-to-basics approach with Casino Royale, and Bond closer to the character Fleming originally wrote, not making silly jokes or innuendo's every 5 seconds like in the Brosnan movies.

Brosnan is now too old to play Bond adequately IMHO. Daniel Craig is a good actor, well suited to the action sequences I reckon, but I dunno... he lacks that suave "Bond... James Bond" quality which makes all women swoon. Time will tell, I guess. :)

So with you there Gav. PB was my Bond in that Goldeneye was the first Bond film made when I would understand and enjoy them. I was gutted when they dropped him, really thought he was brilliant.

However in Daniel Craig I think they have a good replacement. The new film is meant to be really hard-core, back to basics with Bond being a bit nastier. Nothing wrong in that, new direction and all.

wasn't Gav joking with what he said? he added "total sarcasm" at the end of the sentence, possibly meaning he thought Brosnan was awful?

Dunno, re-reading his post I'm not sure if the sarcasm is about watching them or thinking PB was goord or not.

Brosnan definitely brought a fresh slickness to the Bond character which was greatly refreshing...for a while anyway until it started to get a bit too cheesy. Was too overwhelmed with the Craig announcement but after seeing some of these previews it looks like the Bond franchise should do pretty well with a guy like him, and return to that cold, sinister, ruthless Bond character :) Can't wait for 11-17-06!

Too over the top in retro-spec. However, that was the climate of the 1970s. An bit cheesy

He seemed like he'd break with any action. Not to mention Moonraker was ridiculously bad ;), the guy was dressed like a Mexican person would be dressed in the desert, and there were monkeys on the beach, hahahahaha
